I done a search on the web using "GLW_ChoosePFD enemy territory".

That led me to the video card and its driver.

So if it was my PC that is what i would look at first.

Yep, @Gengis, the "old timers" had the same problem and suggestions here some 12 years ago!  😄  (I found this in a roundabout way, via Internet searching for  the Wolfenstein +"check com_crashed" error.)

Make sure you use a recent version of directX.

That made me search to find if Windows Update also updates DirectX and it seems that it does.

You can run DxDiag from the Win10 search box on the bottom left of the TaskBar.  I have version 12 in 20H2, build 19042.

There is a "DirectX 12 (Ultimate)" version that some claim is exclusively for Windows 11, but other sites say that it can be installed on 10.  😄  I am not going to mess with that just yet.

Hey!

As said @Gengis , it will be needed more info about GFX card , driver , and OS versions -  All of them should be useful for someone could help you more accurately.

Open command prompt as "admin" and type this after c:/

(you can COPY & PASTE it in cmd) :

1- To know what is your GFX card + Driver Version :

wmic path win32_videocontroller get name,DriverVersion

example for me it returns this :

C:\>wmic path win32_videocontroller get name,DriverVersion

DriverVersion Name
27.20.100.8682 Intel(R) HD Graphics 530
26.21.14.4259 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950

2- The MotherBoard

wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer,version

C:\>wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer,version

Manufacturer Product Version
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. G11CB Rev 1.xx

3- And finally, the version of windows:

ver

C:\>ver

Microsoft Windows [version 10.0.19042.1237]

I hope that we could help you and that you will fix it!

The same old song.

Keep your PC updated with the latest drivers.

Definitely 👍

According to Windows Update catalog, this is marked as the last Driver in their list, so when you will try to 'update it' throught the Windows Update Tool, it should tell you that you have the most recent driver for your GFX card 😣

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=8580bd76-32cf-4983-a828-ab5c2be3c421

Well, as in auto repair (cars mechanics) , there is never a "preset solution" to a problem, because many various factors or different reasons can cause the same symptoms

So I will just give you some clues on you on what I would have done first myself :

Delete the driver provided by Windows Update tool and rather install the driver from manufacturer website .

1- Download the WHQL driver from NVIDIA :

32 bit

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/112595/en-us

64 bit

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/112596/en-us

You current driver is for X86 architecture (32 bit) , i forgot to ask you the "OS architecture", but, if I am not wrong, I can guess that you have a 32 bit Windows ... lets check it more accurately:

To know the "bitness" of your Windows:

wmic os get OSArchitecture

C:\>wmic os get OSArchitecture
OSArchitecture
64-bit

Then you can download above the right file (32 bits or 64 bits)

2- Delete the current Driver of your GFX card from the "device manager" > Graphic card > right click on your GeForce and then "delete"

3- Install the one from NVIDIA that you have downloaded.

In many cases it has solved that kind of problems!

you moved your pc and now it doesnt work right..  i bet its a bios setting reverted back to stock. if i take out my gpu  an put it back in i gotta do some bios settings so it works right again. unplugging your pc and moving it isnt gonna mess up a  gpu driver but can change your bios.

what mother board do you run.

  • 1 month later...

run dxdiag for direct x and make sure it's installed properly

it will tell you your version 9.0b or c and up will run ET with out a graphics card installed

if one is installed disable vertical sync to check the board it self

if that fail do a clean install to a non-protected drive location like the desktop
