Fire investigators in Colorado Springs think that a Wii console is the likely cause of a fire inside a RV home this week, local NBC news channel KOAA 5 reports. The homeowner Trevor Pellegrin told KOAA 5 that he was not at home when the fire started. Pellegrin said that the fire also had nothing to do with the Wii wires, and that it started inside of the actual console. A spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Fire Department told KOAA 5 that all other possible sources of ignition were ruled out. The fire melted Pellegrin's TV, his Wii, and some of his clothes, and while his roof suffered "extensive smoke damage," it seems his home survived the incident. In the comments section to the KOAA 5 website, Pellegrin says that he got in touch with a Nintendo representative, but the he was located in the United Kingdom, so he was redirected to Nintendo of America. One of the images from KKTVO 11 News video segment about the fire shows that Pellegrin also owns an Xbox 360, which appears to have survived the fire unscathed. Source http://www.gamespot.com/

So in my spare time i play ET, do things that i shouldn't probably talk about and also mix and produce house/techno music. As this is such a large community i was hoping that there would be some other people out there who have a mutual love for house/techno music. I think a good way to get this going is to post your favourite house/techno tune of choice. It doesn't matter if it's the darkest of dark from the realms of Berghain, some crazy 150bpm stompers or your 5am "i can't be bothered to dance anymore" chill out tune, just post it! I'll start off with this beautiful tune:

Frankie Knuckles, a legend in the world of dance music and one of the inventors of house music, a steady, beat-driven style played in nightclubs all over the world, died unexpectedly at his Chicago home on Monday. He was 59. By the mid-1990s, house music was so mainstream that a song by Frankie Knuckles was played in a commercial for Lipton Iced Tea. But it wasn't always that way. Knuckles, born Francis Nicholls in the Bronx, started in the dance music underground. When he was just 18, he got a job as a DJ at a major destination for gay men — the Continental Baths in Manhattan. That's also where Bette Midler and Barry Manilow got their starts. In an interview with the BBC two years ago, Knuckles described it as a world unto itself. "It was more than just a bath house," he said. "There was a boutique. There was an Olympic-sized swimming pool. There was a theater room. There was a salon." And a dance floor where Knuckles worked eight-hour shifts. "A lot of people would check in on Friday night and they wouldn't check out until Monday morning," Knuckles said. "They were on their way to work." Knuckles' signature sets were not about explosive non-stop energy. He structured them, he once said, like stories with internal logic and a certain moody momentum. Though he got his start in New York, Knuckles became one of the faces of dance music in another city: Chicago. He moved there in his 20s and quickly began working at a new club. "He was the main DJ — he was the only DJ — at a club called The Warehouse," says Charles Matlock, another Chicago DJ, who spoke to NPR last year about the origins of Chicago house. "That club ended up lending its name to this genre of music." That fact is disputed by some, but what's not disputed is that Knuckles packed the place. At first, the clubgoers at The Warehouse were mostly gay and black. Within a few years, everyone who lived to dance went there. When disco fell out of fashion, Knuckles had to create new sounds by sampling music he liked — Philadelphia soul, Motown, rare European imports. He added drum effects and used a reel-to-reel tape machine in the DJ booth to edit songs so a section looped over and over, giving dancers more time on the floor. "I did it out of necessity," he said, "because there were no more disco records being made. Nothing with any kind of real energy." So he created songs — songs that sometimes went on for 10 minutes or more — that remain classics. "The song 'Your Love' was probably about the year zero in the history of house music," Matlock says of Knuckles' 1987 edit of a song by Jamie Principle. "It was really one of the major shots heard 'round the world." House spread from Chicago and Detroit to Ibiza and Berlin, and helped sweep in the drug-fueled rave culture in the U.K. in the '90s. But Knuckles was never interested in hedonism. He saw the dance floor as a sacred space. The beat united everybody there. For Frankie Knuckles, the beat was a creed. What is probably his most popular song:

Well i thought there wasn't any topics of this type so i thought i would make my own Any one of you guys or girls studied music theory? (im kinda teaching myself) My teacher didn't like electronica or dance music (actually he kinda hated it when i would put daft punk or deadmau5 on lol until like the last day of school) I've gotten fascinated about keys, diatonic scales, the circle of fifths, and so on... now due to the fact that ive gotten a faster computer I've downloaded DAWs (digital audio workstations) to use and experiment on... ive actually started making my own melodies. (i dont really have much time to make a full song lol) Basically, what im looking for is somewhat of a new aged music theory (my teacher just played us the beatles and boring mundane rock songs to learn lol... i learned more from the internet than i did with my teacher) So, what i'm kinda asking, what have you learned about music these days that seemed to stand out technically... *insert tech geek text here* like, for example in one of my favorite electronica tracks of all time: Deadmau5- Faxing Berlin...(its my fav dont read or listen if you don't like it) the tempo is 128 BPM (straight with no swing) the key is D# Minor (or E-flat.. its so processed i don't know i can't tell, i don't have perfect pitch lol) with at least i think the A#m chord a bit suspended? (again, perfect pitch not my gift) and it has two bridges and a somewhat of a 8/16 time signature lol (or just 4/4 because thats the drums anyway lol) and it progresses in a organized fashion (at least every 30 seconds to a minute something changes in its structure, the drums or the synth) i don't even want to talk about the mechanical process of producing this track. its interesting to me and probably why its been my favorite deadmau5 track so far because its surprisingly simple(and probably boring to some because it starts out that way, at least for a minute in my opinion).... here's the track for those that want to know what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnEUfeiSKt0 Well. i just wanted to point out this because I've always been fascinated about it and how now these days computers, and actually laptops are being used more than ever to make/produce music especially in the electronica category like House, Trance, and obviously ''Dubstep''. Also to DJ with; laptop dj's lol, sorry for vinyl, it still has a place in my heart. i thought about whether it can replace bands and just have one person produce a track from their laptop... but id like to have the real thing since some things can't really be replaced, like the human voice. so if anyone has learned something it would be nice to share if anyone doesnt know what im talking about then just put songs that have a intresting melody or hook or something that catches your ear thanks for the time reading all this post (unless you just scrolled all this... cheater)
