I can never get the flamer right, though admittedly it is useful if the map is really tight. Maybe you could spec Big-E, he uses it quite a bit. ("BBQ!")

lol its hillarious watching big -e and his flamethrower

best way to use is in tight corridors and hallways. perhaps a bit of sk if you can. easier on pub since dj makes you move faster. on hardcore server, stab yourself with adren too. will protect you a bit . my fav spots are in oasis and marrakesh. oaiss as an allie and after wall is blown, sometimes axis will camp in tunnels to stop allies getting through. hitting with flamethrower is class since they're so chocked up there. on marrakesh its as axis, second part of map.. get through the back entrace to the allies spawn and sk . its rather easy.

just dont sk whole map or people will get :(

I had a small flamethrower phase, and I found it helpful if I used it as a member of a team of defenders near an objective. If the first thing that happens to the guys going for the obj, is getting hit in the face with flames, even if it doesn't kill them it softens them up quite a bit for the other guys to clean up.

The only problem is as a flamer you draw quite a bit of attention to yourself and can die quite often. At least that's my experience.

That's pretty much a weapon to open up space in tight areas... tunnels and things like that... it's pretty much suicidal tho

Now if the team is good... people will follow you and if you die.. there will be a medic right after you to revive you... so u can keep on cooking the enemy

I can't say enough about having a good team player medic backing you up in suicidal situations. As an engie I'll many times have the most deaths, but thanks to good medics (aka Tonka) I can get the job done.

with FF off it takes like no skill whatsoever to use a flamethrower.

with FF on it takes ALOT to be good with it - i think its the hardest heavy weapon to use. to be effective with it without burning yourself and your teammates is tough. you need to stay on point so you aren't flaming your m8s backs, and you have to lead enemies with the flame so they walk into it. if you are 4* and have smg too, you can use it to make a sort of "flame screen" so the enemy doesn't see you while you strafe and finish them off with smg -- you don't always want to use it to kill -- you can "herd" people with it, as they will run away from a cloud of flame, and back them into corners or onto your team's mines etc. shoot it in "puffs" instead of just holding the trigger down, to conserve ammo. lead the train in railgun with it - it's the best way to kill a person moving the train. hide under walkways and fire it up through the grating..

i'm OK with it i guess.. not the best. but like i said with FF off, it's cake. just run and spray. with FF on it's really hard to master.

I do agree that with FF it is much more difficult to use without greeting burned.

But usually its easy.. specially because I use it not for sprees, or SK but for certains situations.. Like

In field depot ,Is a must, to grab the spawn point in the bunker

In Bremen2 also to grab the spawn point

In Goldrush as axis if you aim it at the first door and keep spraying it.. hardly a enemy will have the ball to cross the fire..

Another situation rather unusual that sometimes I use is on Minas.. yes I know that the map is for sniping and to big for a flamer

But in some levels the allies would be able to camp so hard that axis could not gain terrain..

So I would use the flames, just spraying form wall to wall.. creating a huge wall of fire..many times that made them retreat..

Put your self in allies position and imagine a wall of fire advancing in your direction..

Not only that, but you could create a fire curtain that would allow for you team to move hidden by it..

So I resume the uses of the flamer to 3 situations

1 - Ability to kill 2 or 3 in CQB.. (usually conquering spawns)

2 - deter enemy attack by fear (camping a small fire in a passage or door, only few will dare to pass, and if you join a poison grenade even better)

3 - throwing panic and confusion on enemy (Entering a room or area where enemy as put up well positioned defense, will generally make all of them move, and leave there positions, disrupting the defense enough time to let the team get advantage )

you do that, and i will kill you X times in a row by tossing a primed grenade from around the corner at you. i don't think standing still and advertising your position like that is a good strategy =p

better to corner camp and lead ppl with the flame as they come through the door or down the alley etc.. switch positions after a few kills - those ppl know where you are now and will be tossing nades at you when they respawn if they are smart.

don't forget how great it is for guarding a flag.. like the old city at oasis.

right on! - like i said about herding people with it - ppl run away from flames, so even if you are not getting kills with it you can force your enemy into backing off at least for a precious few seconds while your team makes its way to an obj. a flamethrower in the room gets everyones attention =D
