Now while I don't necessarily mind italy when I'm on S1, it's a bit much on HC. I can see that it's (clearly) not going away, but does allies really need ~10 min in time extensions for that map? Same with any other map that has time extensions. It's a bit over the top for maps on HC to have time extensions especially when most players would prefer a shorter map as it is. These extensions aren't in place at S1 (which doesn't make sense at all, if it's supposed to be hardcore why are we giving extra time) but they are in place at HC.

I dont think hc needs 30 minutes map, small maps can be 20 or even 15-18 in some cases whereas big maps dont need to be over 25. 

 

EDIT: I should probably say something about the topic itself more. I think the point of added time from an objective orientated point of view is great, it serves its exact purpose.

If Im not mistaken then italy starts on 20 minutes, and gets +5 for every gold you put into the jeep. We could try to remove the +5 for the first crate but keep the +5 for the second crate, so the map takes 25 minutes max.

Why you ask? Because the jeep takes time to get from point A to B, if there is 2 minutes left on the clock and you still need to return 2nd crate the map is already lost but when you know there will be minutes added your effort is never in vain. The same reasoning applies to making the map 25 minutes with no added time. Giving a minimum of 5 minutes for getting the jeep from crateposition to 1st spawn (which is probably around a 2-2,5 minute ride if uncontested) is extremely fair in my opinion.

 

P.S.: If time allows me I would love to spend time with people running through every map seeing how we can improve them without removing them but only if I can expect something to actually come of it

There's at the very least three time extensions, but iirc there's one when they blow the gate, one when they park the jeep, and then one when they get the gold in the jeep, and maybe one when they get past the barrier but I don't really know. Either way they're not really necessary at all and they just make the map even more unenjoyable than it is already. I can understand it maybe on S1, but on HC it's just a teambleed, random explosion fest.

literally every game with a large BUT narrow open area is a teambleed fest on hc since people are dumb as hell. Id worry more about being more severe towards handling bleeders over touching the maps themselves

We can do both. Suggestions to improve the servers we run is always welcome. Lets see what more people say about it. I for one think that there are too many extensions too. When allies get the truck in position to receive the gold, i sometimes see that theres 20minutes left on the clock. No way axis can defend that for that long. I think having the map set for 20minutes and then one 5 minute extension when the second gold is received is fair enough.

I mean, the time extension is a script that can be enabled or disabled so it's actually touching the map when the time extension is enabled rather than just turning it off. As I said I don't think it's a bad thing necessarily, just a bad thing for HC. Would be much better suited at S1 instead I think.

 

EDIT: Also, the time extension for parking the jeep is like 8 minutes or something and that's a lot of extra time for getting some gold crates.

 

Edit again: People also tend to leave italy half way through the map, or after one of the generous time extensions, or when the map starts... etc. In any event lots of people leave for various reasons involving italy.

I agree HC servers should be shorter, maps that have huge time limits will annoy some players who will just get spawn killed the whole map, 30 minutes of just mostly being killed on a losing team isn't as fun

Italy is not that bad,simply because its not that big,you dont have to move 10 miles before you encounter opponent so there is action to keep you busy.

 

Now MLB Temple and MLB Daybreak are in a much much worse situation because you have to walk half an hour till you encounter an opponent so it gets boring the second time you get killed and have to move all that distance again. I dont know how much time is added each time but i have never seen the map end before allies get the tank in the position.

 

What im saying is that at least theres action going on when allies cant get the objective,when you respawn you will face an opponent again pretty fast in Italy.

If you compare an object to something worse. Of course its going to seem better. So comparing Italy to maps that have it worse isn't the way to look at it. The reality is, its played because a certain portion of the community likes the map....for a certain period of time. If the map was shorter. Guaranteed it would be more enjoyable, knowing that you dont have to wait until you have grandkids before the next maps starts. Too much of anything is bad. So limiting Italy to a maximum of 25minutes is reasonable for such a map. imo.

This, even if each of the extensions were lowered to say, 2 min, it would make the map more enjoyable. It just gets long and drawn out as it is now.
