The bot count on the Recruiting server is configured to help the server have a minimum of 25 players connected (bots make up the difference if needed). Because of this number, bots always force uneven teams. This would probably be best to be modified to be 24 or 26 as the target for number of players that the bots will fill the server until that point is reached.

 

Having the bots force even team numbers will make it easier for the human players to balance the teams if needed, as the bots won't the unbalancing the team counts.

An extra bot doesnt make that much of a difference to the team, especially one consisting of 25 players minimum. The reason its always unbalanced, as in there is one additional bot on one of the teams is to force players to join the weaker team.

 

Trust me, if there were equal number of bots on both teams, the teams would get uneven pretty quickly because real players can join any team they wish and most dont bother looking at the state of the teams. So this is a prevention tactic to keep teams as even as possible.

 

Dont tell me this bot is superior to all humans hahha :D

Fully agree with Nerbil.  They are unruly and I hate them.  They cause nothing but problems and they do it intentionally.  Should lower it to 16 slots imo.  I hate them, hate them, hate.

Nerbil and Cheep both have good points. However, the extra Bot is rarely on the stronger team. Many times when the Bots are on I have to wait for the teams to shift by a player joining or leaving so I can join the weaker team

No, this is not about bots being even, sometimes one team will have all humans, and the other will have 7 bots. This is about keeping even team totals with the bots, so that teams can be more easily fixed by the humans.

 

If Axis have 12 humans, and Allies have 9 humans, and 3 bots. The next player to join can join allies, which will kick off one bot.

 

We can't prevent human players from skewing the numbers and joining the team of their choice, but we can prevent the bots from forcing uneven teams and preventing good natured humans from fixing the teams. I've seen server admins put specs on to the team with more bots (by request) because the humans can't join those teams (because the totals are unbalanced). Bots should create equal numbered teams, and let the humans balance the teams out.

I think bots making the teams uneven is better.

 

Nerbil the problem with your suggestion is that the players can choose. Sure they could press tab and see that one team has more bots than the other and join them BUT they could also decide that they want an easy game and join the team with fewer bots and make it really uneven.

Sure its a Beginners Server and the people there could be lesser skilled and decide they want an easy game against bots but you will probably also find people like them on Recruiting.

There is already the problem that people often dont realise that the teams are uneven and dont switch (myself included although sometimes I just dont want to switch to allies for Thompson reasons. MP40 sound>Thomp sound) or that they dont switch because they like crushing the other team with numbers.

Once again, my point isn't about the worth of bots, or how humans will or won't balance teams. My point is that if bots are forcing an uneven team, a human player can't even the teams even if they want to. If the team with the most bots also has the most players, a new joining player has no choice but to join the other team, which makes the bot v. human ratio even worse.

 

Bots shouldn't force uneven team counts, there is no benefit to it. 25 is an arbitrary number (chosen by an admin) that the bots will fill the server to, I am just suggesting that it be changed to 24 or 26.
