Pc Lag [I guess]

Recommended Posts

Lately my Pc is experiencing lags, my output works fine { moniter and speakers} work fine, but input like keyboard and mouse doesn't work,Its like input has hanged but output works fine, it happens mostly when I play ET, its reduced but game lags, even while im using my pc for work it hangs and as soon as the Pc lag started i started experiencing lag in game too, i guess its coz of the packet loss, or something like that, i dont know anything what is happening actually, so i asked you guys,

Thank you for help, whoever helped. I provided some SS's and win Mtr report, if you want pc specs let me know,

Here is a mtr report,=----

is it a permanent lag or only every so often?

A while back i started to experience a large drop in fps on all my games, could easily get 250fps and then suddenly only get 60-120 on cod4. What fixed it for me was to clean out my cpu and gpu of dust, the dust on both of them made them heat up and block ever so slightly. may be something else but this is something that I experienced and after cleaning my fps went back up.

According to your lagometer, the source of your lags is network. Check following:

  1. Any windows updates happened lately affecting your drivers?
  2. Did you run any driver updates lately?
  3. Close all programs with internet connectivity. Start cmd, type netstat -aob, press enter key, do you see any connection which shouldn't be there?
  4. If you are on wireless, turn off all other wireless devices you use, any improvement?
  5. Check your ingame network settings, open console, type /players and post your stats here (maxpackets, snaps, rate)
  6. Less likely, but as Owned stated, maybe your PC needs a bit attention - check for dust inside.

9% packet loss on your ISP's backbone... ouch. Have your parents give them a call? :)

I am interested as to why your PC might hang while you're trying to work though... What are you doing or opening when it hangs?

As per for network problem I didnt have any lags before am still using the same connection as it was when I started playing ET, and for wireless devices , it doesn't affect my gameplay coz my and parents phone stay connected 24 hours, so not due to that too, and for dust problem I had cleaned it just half a month ago, and my cpu is very large so doesnt have heating problem, Should try contacting ISP, For Pc lags I like use google chrome and youtube a lot and download music[ not while playing] and listen to music, and read some pdf s thats it, nothing else, its like my input doesnt work,

I don't think you understand what network problems may cause... it can be a bad driver, poor signal or to many devices connected (wireless), cable problems (to near to power lines, i.e.), programs using to much bandwidth (like torrent), bad firmware, wrong game settings ... a lot of stuff.

I asked a few questions, but you didn't answer on any of them. I can't help you if you don't cooperate, since I have no clue what appears on your screen when you enter commands I suggested.

If you have problems when you work other stuff than gaming, then it is probably an active process interrupting your normal workflow. But this is hard to guess without proper insight... you definitely should check for active processes in your memory and auto-start programs. Download sysinternals tools, it is a full set of tools which can help you to determine what could be the root-cause of your problem.

Since I am completely blind here, my best guess are either a process in memory (maybe even hidden malware) or something messed with your network settings/drivers (like an auto-update).

p.s. - when you say your CPU is very large, I assume you think on your CPU cooler... cause CPUs are usually pretty small (3-5 cm large square, a few mm thick).

1. I dont update non important windows update so no,

2.No driver updates

3. I close alll programs other than windows [ processes] i dont use torrent, i use IDM, which is closed even process,

4.No improvement, i use modem+wireless router, when you said this i tried connecting directly to modem so no wireless devices connected, no difference

5.Maxpackets-100, rate 34000, snaps 20, timenudge -50

6.Dust , yes cleaned, it solved little bit of lag but not fully,

For info, I have a Dial UP connection, with 512kbps speed[speed test] 60-70 kbps as per my observations, anymor equestions, i would like to answer all your questions, Coz i have to reduce my lag, and thanks for helping, dont mean to be rude,[ coz most think my behaviour is rude] i guess my words are rude, if like that sorry

I highly doubt your network/internet is affecting your keyboard and mouse.

So the basics;

Degragged lately? Mine is set to defrag every night.

Cleaned temp files?

Ran spyware or virus detection programs? I suggest Super Anti Spyware Remover but first, run Ccleaner and the built in Windows disk cleanup, making sure every box is checked and you've run it in admin mode.

Your not rude, people think I'm being an ass Everytime I say something. It's all good

Defrag? I dont know much about it, but will do,

Temp files yes used ccleaner but the prob started after using ccleaner , i mean it rather increased the lag,

didnt run spyware or antivirus, I have microsoft essentials, dont have any antivirus or anti malware or anti spyware

I bet not defragging is your problem. See, when you open and close files and programs little fragments get left behind on the hard drive and gaps opened between the blocks, if you want to call it that, which slows your computer down over time when do you defrag it pushes all those blocks back together eliminating the gaps and you will notice your computer is much more responsive. Windows has a built-in defrag program you can download a good one. The one that I recommend is called Auslogics Defrag.

If you use that one comma in the main screen where you select whether you want to analyze or 2 frag there is another option that says may take longer. Do that one because it will reorder your programs on your hard disk but it could take a few hours to run so do it overnight

Defrag hasn't really made any difference in I/O speeds since hard drives got over ~10GiB or so. Especially with the advent of EXT3/4 and NTFS, it's even less of a necessity. Now Windows Defrag (lite edition of Diskeeper), will move system and boot files to the edge of the disk where the highest rotational speeds are obtained, to increase boot performance. (And by defragging daily, all you're doing is wearing out the HD)

Anyways, back on topic... the whole "input doesn't work" interests me. Perhaps a system interrupt (waiting on a failing HD or RAM module for example) or a bad driver is to blame.

But let's look in your event viewer, under the "System" log. You can access this by pressing the windows logo on your keyboard, and the R key at the same time. Then type in "eventvwr.msc".

What we'd be looking for is a reoccurring error.

Some in my log are as such:

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR3."
"The IO operation at logical block address 0x0 for Disk 6 (PDO name: \Device\00000082) was retried."
"Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Now all of these are coming from a perfectly healthy system, so here's a few errors that are from when I had a failing hard drive in my machine, and there's about twenty entries of this over a few minutes

"The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block."
"Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued."

Let us know what you find.

I did the eventvwr.msc, i got a window which had many sections in it, but couldn't find what you asked for , can you tell where to look,

I tried my brain, went to windows-system- got section with logs saying information, there were few errors of bluesacks stopping, and i guess dozens of warnings, i dont know what that means, if this is what you are looking for,

And I will just try running a spyware and an antivirus, coz i have microsoft essentials for antivirus, nothing else
