Problem with lags

Scream

Recommended Posts

Hello There!

I have a problem with lags.. ;x

The thing is when I connect to the server, for 5 maybe 10 minutes I have sth about 100-80 fps. But after that my fps is going down very fast.

It is lowering to 3 fps in 2 seconds. Even on 1 mb connection I got stabble fps.. now I have 4 mb and this lag is killing me.

Any clue how to fix this?

I tried with firewall, different cfgs etc....

Hope I will get some answer.

Cheers ;)

Scream in your lagometer green line = your internet connection.

Till you get decent green line you can't fix lag.

Try on Euro Jaymod and let me know how it goes.

maby some programm are in conflict with pb? like antivirus or smth?

/rate 32000

/cl_maxpackets 100

/pb_sleep 20 - 500 (I use 20)

/pb_system 0

/pb_security 0

You can add it to your cfg and try. Works for me.

Well, those are mysterious problems and them can exist because almoust for any reason. Some most common ones:

1. Virus/other shit on computer, or can be because Windows installation has just been there very long, like 5 years without formatting/re-installing.

2. PunkBuster can cause those awesome lagspikes and fps drops.

3. Firewall or Antivirus or both.

So, first everything is ok, but after some minutes it starts. Usually PunkBuster makes first those lags and after some minutes everything is pretty ok. And for firewall or antivirus, well, everything works fine first, so propably that is not the problem either. So, there is actually 2 possible reason for this:

1. Virus/other shit on computer, or can be because Windows installation has just been there very long, like 5 years without formatting/re-installing.

2. Your internetconnection can't handle it. You said that before you had 1mb connection and it worked fine. And now with 4mb it doesn't. Well, thats very reasonable, because the speed is not only what matters, but the quality of phonelines. So if the connection speed is too fast for those lines, it doesn't work well, connection interrupts sometimes, sometimes net is not working etc. Also ping might be doubled or got +50. So one solution might be that you get slower internet connection. ( Let me guess, you are not living in centre of any city, right? Because there rarely is any quality problems for 4mb connection speed.)

So, I recommend to re-install your windows if you don't have any uber important things there(or you can save them first somewhere) and you have skills to do that(its not hard at all, or you can ask someone to do that for you). If you don't want to do that or you did but didn't worked, then try to switch back to slower internet connection.

Hope you get it work.
