Ann!b@l Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) What you mean on manual anni ? -press Windows key+R -type in the search bar: services.msc -look for Windows Update (at the end of the list). -right-click on it, go in "Properties", and in the "Startup Type", choose "Manual". -Apply then Ok. And I use Nod32 for AV, about fire wall, I think it's windows firewall. So Win firewall + Win defender are both turned on. -Check please if your AV integrates a firewall or not\which one it is: http://www.eset.com/int/home/for-windows/. The simple NOD32 doesn't have, the others yes. If "yes", there's one, then disable Windows firewall. If "not", enable it. -About Windows Defender, since you own your own AV, turn it off. Some combinations of AV create conflicts. Plus, a single AV is already heavy on a pc no need to explain how are heavy 2 AVs. Edited December 6, 2014 by Ann!b@l Quote
Puni Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 I've turned it off. And i've got regular NOD32, so I will keep firewall of windows on. Also did the manual on update Quote
Ann!b@l Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) Since we are talking about firewall, you could make sure than ET and Punkbuster are allowed through this latter. To allow a program to communicate through Windows Firewall: -open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall. -in the left panel, click Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall. -click Change settings. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. -select the check box next to the program you want to allow, select the network locations you want to allow communication on, and then click OK. The path for the 3 files to add: C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\et.exe C:\Windows\SysWOW64\PnkBstrA C:\Windows\SysWOW64\PnkBstrB Edited December 7, 2014 by Ann!b@l Quote

Leader RedBaird Posted December 6, 2014 Leader Posted December 6, 2014 Cant find those two PnkBstr files on my pc.. lol :S How to find them ? And i dont have folder with the name 'SysWOW64' or 'SysWOW32' at my pc Your file system is probably set for "hide system files." This link shows how to unhide them: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7 This is the default setting so that Users don't delete system files accidentally. My Windows 7 Pro shows the syswow64 in my c:\windows folder and the punkbuster files are in there. Quote

And i dont have folder with the name 'SysWOW64' or 'SysWOW32' at my pc There's a SysWOW64 only for 64-bits OS, so you're probably on a 32-bit system. Look into System32 folder. Or just type those names in the search bar of Windows Explorer to find them. Quote
Puni Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 I've already done that. So probebly it's hidden (I know how to make them unhidden ) Also cant find them even when able to see hidden folders Quote
Ann!b@l Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I've already done that. So probebly it's hidden (I know how to make them unhidden ) Also cant find them even when able to see hidden folders Anyway, this is not the major problem, so let's say it's ok and try to lower this cpu usage\improve your gaming experience. Try this: -Download CpuZ. -install it and launch it with admin rights. -once done, check the Level 2 cache. As you can see, mine is at 4x256 KBytes, so 1024KB. -press Windows key+R and in the search bar, type "regedit". -follow this path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management -on the right side there's a key named "SecondLevelDataCache". Double click on it, as value and instead of "0", put there the value you got with CPU-Z. As BASE, tick Decimal then OK. As example, mine set on 1024 (4x256 KBytes): In fixing this known common bug on all Windows versions, I got an small increase of my perfs. Worked also on my Son's pc which is the same than yours (aside your versions of Windows). 1 Quote

Worked also on my Son's pc which is the same than yours (aside your versions of Windows). Well I did what you said, and I've got 2048 on the CPU-Z (already had the program). So in the "SecondLevelDataCache" I was needed to write 800 so it will become 2048 in the box. Is that ok ? Quote
Xernicus Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Ouch. That white highlighting is horrible for us who use the Carbon Blue theme. And yes you can do it that way, or simply use the integer (decimal) radio box set to 2048 to remember this key value (this can and will need to be changed if you ever upgrade CPUs for example). 1 Quote
Ann!b@l Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Is that ok ? Perfect! So now, let's check other things whom could steal ressources of your proc.. 1) Network: -press Windows key+R.
