Hey guys, so I decided to help a few people out who need a new cfg, maybe even just a tweak or two for better ingame play. I have a link to a CFG maker

(http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/CFG_Maker;42187). I will also be posting a few CFG's I can find from back in the day (former ETPro scripts) they work well. But since I don't have the time now, I will add some CFG's hopefully later tonight or tomorrow, cheers.

Found a brightness script. 

 

Brightness script: changing the ingame brightness using a single key (in this case [ b ] ). Pressing it once sets 1.0, twice sets to 1.5 and so on… after pressing it 5 times it sets brightness back to default which is 1.0.

The brightness script only uses the r_gamma cvar. It also shows a small note text on the screen with green color and with red it shows the highest value reached (3.0).

But some mice work better and are more stable on their native dpi which is mostly the max setting.

I created my own mouse smoothing for windows, tested it with several mice.

And using high sensitivity in et disorts 1-1 movement response on my pc.

That's why I wrote it's better to use higher dpi or higher sensitivity in windows settings, not in et.

And I agree with Annibal, maybe some mice have ability to change dpi but they work better on their native dpi.

Anyway, this is what I think, and what I have mostly seen mentioned, observed or even as result of tests on a lot of sites:

 

Yes, you will likely see best results from your own performance by using an overall low sensitivity however you do NOT want to achieve this by changing your mouse's DPI away from the DPI where it maintains it's best perfect tracking speed if it's not necessary. Each sensor model has a unique optimal DPI where it maintains its best 'perfect tracking speed.' Meaning, if the mouse is moved too quickly it will eventually fail to maintain perfect tracking and it will 'skip.'

 

Using a DPI that is higher or lower than the optimal value will lower the speed at which the mouse is able to maintain perfect tracking. People build test stands using turn tables to test this in conjunction with different combinations of mice, firmwares, mouse pad surfaces, dpi, etc. So it's usually easier to google your mouse to see if someone has found the optimal settings for your mouse and mouse/mousepad combination than to test yourself. Although sometimes manufacturers do state this for the native DPI of the mouse. For example, the CMStorm Spawn states the mouse at it's native DPI of 3500 yields a maximum perfect tracking speed of 60 inches/s on it's specifications page.

While sensitivity is a matter of preference, it's hard to argue that largely you will not see the best results from using a low sensitivity. However, you do not want to achieve this by changing your mouse DPI away from it's optimal setting (typically its native DPI but not always). You want to do this by leaving the mouse at its optimal DPI and then lowering your in-game slider

 

Lastly, it is possible to use different DPIs and never exceed the maximum perfect tracking speed however it is highly recommended that the mouse be used at its optimal settings where it maintains the most accurate tracking and then scaling it's response using in-game settings. The idea is to maintain a high signal-to-noise ratio by lowering the noise at the input.

I would like a cfg that I could change. that would pass me a cfg especially for vsay I can change. Could you explain more please?, do you want to have a normal cfg and another cfg with binds?

A mouses maximum or "native" DPI will not result in smooth game play and in most cases has nothing to do with it. DPI is a ludicrous marketing schematic. More DPI does not mean a better mouse - only a more powerful sensor. I have three mice with a maximum value of 8200 DPI. I invite you to play with that value at your earliest convenience. 

 

Accurate shooting in FPS games requires a 1:1 ratio to encourage muscle memory and smoother tracking. However one must consider what the mouse is doing with this information and how much is really needed to accomplish consistent tracking. When trying to make a straight line at 400 DPI, regardless of your in game sensitivity the mouse is reading a set value of information. When trying to make that same line at 800 DPI the mouse is reading in twice the information in the same amount of space. Naturally this as well as any higher DPI value will make the movement smoother (this should not be confused with a mouses polling rate). At 400 DPI the mouse will have less opportunities to read errors as well as making it infinitely easier to control cross hair movement across smaller clusters of pixels (i.e., tracking at a distance). At a high DPI jitter can occur in the mouse input from: fans, your arm shaking mildly, any and all vibrations, and debris on your mouse pad. For this reason I suggest not exceeding 800 DPI as it is not only unnecessary but will work against your efforts to track accurately. It is never better to raise Windows sensitivity and it is also poor (but not as bad) to excessively change the in game sensitivity from 1.0. The goal is obtaining the closest thing to raw input that you can get which means minimal software processing. Furthermore the Windows mouse input algorithms are not consistent and push away from a 1:1 ratio when used outside of the 6/11 setting. I will say it again. Software processing is bad.

 

I would just like to clarify one more thing: "Meaning, if the mouse is moved too quickly it will eventually fail to maintain perfect tracking and it will 'skip.'"

This does not apply to ET. For a player to move his or her mouse quickly enough to cause skipping outside of what the mouse cannot read in to begin with is not practical or usable in this game. In fact that post has been taken out of context. The company is saying that the mouse can track accurately when moved at 60 inches per second on the 3500 DPI setting - marketing their mouses sensor. It is not even possible for a human to move a mouse that quickly.

Maximum DPI doesn't mean necessary "native DPI" and vice versa. I own many mice with for each one a diff max DPI (g500, g700, deathadder, taipan,..) me too.

 

By "more powerfull sensor", you meant ability of tracking I guess. Here, it all depends the quality of your sensor. For my part I stick with and buy mice with some models of Avago sensors, whom are at my eyes are the most reliable and efficient.

 

Even if max DPI is not always its native or perfect setting for an efficient tracking\mouse, at my eyes this "400\800 DPI" stuff is only a truth from hearsays. All this because pro players, years back, used this setting and keep using it nowadays. A bit like all people looking for mAus config instead to create their own config\ask for a personal config. The only purpose of this DPI setting is habits and avoid negative acceleration. You can of course decrease the negative acceleration, but whatever softwares (like RInput for example) or DPI settings used, due to OS, a residual acceleration will always be present...
