Stormy, as i have noticed the CoD4 version changer is made by one of the founders of Fearless Assassins, so i doubt there would be a threat. If it is possible to allow it to download, download it, it is completely harmless. As in which more people and members play on, it is definitely 1.7. Beginners is highly populated all the time.

You can always do a double install, more complicated, but it will allow you to play both. I forget how to do it, but if you search around on the internet or on the forums, you will find out a way!

it's not created by us. We found it online and submitted in our download section.

I will download and check that file for any virus.

just temporarily disable AVG

Press the little up arrow at the bottom right, right click avg, and there will be an option to temporarily disable it

There USED to be a 2nd Version changer ... not the EURO one ... and THAT one WAS created by a FORMER member on FA ( =F|A=Dan ). With his departure, so too was his software removed from the downloads sections, I think at his request, but ? ... shame as IMO that version was much better and easier.

Long story short though ... the DOUBLE INSTALLATION is the way to do this ... much safer and headache free long term than constantly messing with the Version changer.

Yes it requires more HDD disc space, you're basically installing TWO copies of the game, one that will run the 1.6 version and a Desktop shortcut icon for it, and a second that will run 1.7 and a Desktop shortcut icon for it as well.  But this way everything remains in the proper space, and your player profile doesn't get corrupted switching back and forth from 1.6 to 1.7 all the time.   :drunk

I agree with LA.  I used the game changer for a while, and it was troublesome at times, and eventually it crapped out and corrupted my COD install.  I couldn't find my CD so I repurchased the game via Steam and I have a double install running.  Works perfectly.

Strange, I've never had the version changer corrupting my install/player data. Maybe because my install is outside of the Program Files folder?

Very strange indeed, my cod4 installation folder IS in program files and i have been using the version changer for about 8 months and nothing has been corrupted...
