MoHawk Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Question ,I have reinstalled my cod 4 ,at the moment its set up at 1.6 when i download the tool to do the changer AVG says there is a threat so won't download so which server version do =F|A= Clan play the most on =F|A=StormyUK Quote
ValmirTheGamer Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Stormy, as i have noticed the CoD4 version changer is made by one of the founders of Fearless Assassins, so i doubt there would be a threat. If it is possible to allow it to download, download it, it is completely harmless. As in which more people and members play on, it is definitely 1.7. Beginners is highly populated all the time. Quote

ValmirTheGamer Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks but AVG won't let me You can always do a double install, more complicated, but it will allow you to play both. I forget how to do it, but if you search around on the internet or on the forums, you will find out a way! Quote

Administrators daredevil Posted August 19, 2014 Administrators Posted August 19, 2014 No virus: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/620953d98055804fa9d2de690be099c660ddc2cb49370f4392df0e8e4613e0bb/analysis/1408474775/ That version changer used to work for me. I don't have steam install. 1 Quote

FireWienie Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 just temporarily disable AVG Press the little up arrow at the bottom right, right click avg, and there will be an option to temporarily disable it Quote
LA_Kings_Fan Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Then people on TS be lying! lol There USED to be a 2nd Version changer ... not the EURO one ... and THAT one WAS created by a FORMER member on FA ( =F|A=Dan ). With his departure, so too was his software removed from the downloads sections, I think at his request, but ? ... shame as IMO that version was much better and easier. Long story short though ... the DOUBLE INSTALLATION is the way to do this ... much safer and headache free long term than constantly messing with the Version changer. Yes it requires more HDD disc space, you're basically installing TWO copies of the game, one that will run the 1.6 version and a Desktop shortcut icon for it, and a second that will run 1.7 and a Desktop shortcut icon for it as well. But this way everything remains in the proper space, and your player profile doesn't get corrupted switching back and forth from 1.6 to 1.7 all the time. Quote
Spyderwebber Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I agree with LA. I used the game changer for a while, and it was troublesome at times, and eventually it crapped out and corrupted my COD install. I couldn't find my CD so I repurchased the game via Steam and I have a double install running. Works perfectly. Quote
Heretic121 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Strange, I've never had the version changer corrupting my install/player data. Maybe because my install is outside of the Program Files folder? 1 Quote

EmtHipple Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Just play 1.6, none of the cool gang plays 1.7 1 Quote

Very strange indeed, my cod4 installation folder IS in program files and i have been using the version changer for about 8 months and nothing has been corrupted... Quote
