Yudeku Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 So all of us have our In-game names, but how did you come up with that name in the first place? Is there maybe a deeper meaning behind it? ITT we tell the stories behind our names. My name dates back to high school. A friend of mine gave me the nickname of Jude Kujala (not related to jewish people in any way). In those days I also had the need for an email address for the first time and of course I tried using this handy nickname in my address. It was too long, though. But here comes the origin: the name was too long, but the site game me suggestions based on that name and one of those names was Judeku. Adapting it as my new game-name I used it for years (mainly because it's very unique. I have never seen anyone with the same name). The main reason for changing the 'J' to 'Y' was that I got bored to the constant jewish relating. Also, english speaking players had sometimes trouble figuring its pronouncing. The change solved all these problems(at least I think so..). TL;DR old nickname modified Quote
ZeZombie Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 This topic is perfect for me since recently a lot of people have been wondering if I'm a fan of The Walking Dead and if that's why I chose to be a Zombie. The answer is no, I'm not a fan of TWD, in fact I think that show is uninteresting and a disgrace to my fellow zombies everywhere! Onto how I came upon the name... Back when CoD4 first came out I always heard fellow classmates in high school talking about it. At the time I didn't have it or even a PS3, Xbox 360 or a PC that could actually play it (I also didn't know PC gaming was a thing. Blissful ignorance.) But damn, this game sounded amazing. Then one day during the summer of 2007 or so, a couple of friends of mine came down to visit from the US and brought their PS3 AND CoD4! I was excited. I finally get to play this amazing game that everyone is always talking about. We started off playing split-screen 4-man free-for-all and even though it was my first time playing I was somehow naturally better than the other 3 (I should probably say that my brother was among us.) After a few matches, my friend offered to let me make a PSN account and play online. So I did and my name was, because it was my favorite gun and my age and my last name starting with an M, Killer-M16. That name stuck with me for about a year until my brother got his own PS3 and I bought my very own copy of CoD4 GOTY Edition. I was hooked. I played every day before school and as soon as I got home. Homework was less important (it still got done though!) than gaming. Eventually after reaching 5th or 6th prestige, I got bored of that name and decided to make a new account. I bet you're thinking "this is it! This is when he made ZeZombie!" You're wrong. My new name was HyyBRiiD because this is when I found out about YouTube and gaming videos. All the 'cool' people had names like this and being an impressionable teenager, I wanted to be cool! After a while the process repeated itself. I got bored, made a new account. This happened about 3 times before I actually stuck with ZeZombie. I can't even remember most of the other names. Anyway, around when MW2 came out I didn't buy the game because CoD4 was life. Never wanted to change that. So the time came when I was bored with my current name and I saw a YouTuber with a name that had 'Ze' in it. I loved it. It added an element of hilarity to a name instead of being serious and saying 'The XYZ' so this was it. Time for my new account. I tried multiple things before I got ZeZombie but as soon as I saw that it wasn't taken, I hopped on it and I've used it as my online alias for pretty much everything. And that's the long-winded story of how I got the name ZeZombie. Nothing to do with TWD or anything else Zombie related. Just a random thing added onto the prefix Ze. 1 Quote
soulJAHmon Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Some people ask me about my nick, so I'll try to explain. It is multi-layered. =F|A=soulJAHmon Firstly, i'm a huge fan of rastafarian culture and reggea music, so if you pronounce my nick in a Caribbean accent, it sounds like "soldier man". I try to live life like a soldier who always fights for the good in every arena, even though I am faulty and fall short, I never give up. Secondly, it's graphical, like a mountain, with the JAH part standing taller than the rest, which leads into the next layer, Thirdly, it represents the Holy Trinity, "soul" being the Holy Spirit, "JAH" being God the Father, and "mon" being Jesus, God in man. Last, the tags, of course, represent the way in which we should fight the good fight, FEARLESSLY. 4 Quote

CheepHeep Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 In my gaming past in ET, many have asked me why I don't have the 'C' on the 'heep' part of my name. Well, originally it was supposed to be "Cheep Cheep" but for some odd reason it never showed the 'C' on the last 'Cheep' even if it showed it in Limbo. So, naturally I just left it as it is and well...here we are. As to where I got the name 'Cheep Cheep'. Well before I started...or even knew about ET, I used to keep chickens as pets. The first chicken I got was called Cheep Cheep because it constantly cheeped and crowed. Eventually we had to take it the farm after receiving complaints from our neighbours via the council. Anyway, my dad introduced ET to me, so just to test it out I used "Cheep Cheep" because It made me LoL when It said CheepCheep got obliterated by someones panzer...haha. Well i think you can guess that I hadn't changed it since. It stuck and now I use it on most things. :> Its quite a unique name too imo. Haven't seen any other Cheeps around. I nominate myself King of Chickens. Most of my online friends, specifically from my old clan called me 'Squishy' short for little yellow squishy thing :D Tl;DR I got my name from my pet chicken! ronaldounit0 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 When I was younger, I had a PS2 and played Star Wars Battlefront almost exclusively. So, since all of the other computer players were Unit 2, Unit 8, and so forth I decided to be Unit 0. Simultaneously, my brother was into games like FIFA and watching soccer on TV. His favorite player was C. Ronaldo. When we got a PS3 to share, we had to think of an online name (we didn't know you could make more than one account at the time). Naturally I wanted to keep it Unit 0 (as I've had for a while), but he wanted to have something to do with C. Ronaldo. It took us a long time of fighting for good names, but ultimately we just went with ronaldounit0. Yes, the name is one of the worst in history, but it holds a lot of personal value now, so there's no way I'm getting rid of it! In game I've been called anything from "Ronald Donut" to "Ronald McDonald" (thanks for that Ze!), but one person kept calling me ronaldunit. When I got into FA on trial, I had to shorten my name for CoD4 because it was too long, so I chose ronaldunit, and I don't play on changing it too much any time in the future! 1 Quote
UAdave Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I attended the University of Akron when I made this name years ago on COD4. And my name is Dave. I am currently accepting creativity awards. 3 Quote

Dddrgn Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 It goes back to my Runescape days. I was like ten, so don't judge me. It asked me for a name for my character, and I thought, well, I like dragons. I'm a guy. Dudedragon! So I wrote that down and used it for a while. It stuck around for quiet a while until I started playing Halo PC, and I began playing on the server for the clan }SoC{. Eventually I joined them, and because of the character limit, I had to shorten my name somehow to fit with the tags, so I ended up with Dddrgn. I left the clan, but the name has been around since then, with the original meaning lost. Quote
Midnight Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Shoot, I have many aliases that I use, but two names: Midnight and InfectiousBubbles, obviously the latter being recent. I began pc gaming when I turned 18, because before then we weren't allowed to play games on the computer and I had just got my first laptop. A brick of thing, but I still use it for coding. I have always been fascinated with anything spiritual, but the darker side of it. I'm fascinated and intrigued by anything dark, whether fictional or real. So naturally I wanted my name to be dark. However I didn't want to pick a name to be picking a name. I believe a name says a lot about a person and needs meaning. So I wanted something meaningful. As a kid I experimented with "witchcraft" and the "occult." And anywhere you turned midnight was relevant. It was the bewitching hour. But I also liked it, because it could be the darkest hour of anything and be the darkest out. I love and fear the dark. There is just so much significance, and meaning, and life to the word midnight. Many cultures have their names for it, but universally it is understood as the moment between the past and the future, it is the present. So I took the name and stuck with it. As for Bubbles, I wanted something new. But it still needed to be dark. And well you guys helped me decide it. Personally, I don't like bubbles, because of their representation as light, smooth, iridescent and fun. They harbor no evil and it was used as a representation of my personality; bubbly. I'll admit I can be very extroverted, but hate saying that I am. Anyway, how does one make bubbles evil? Well when infectious was introduced it was perfect! Nobody would suspect a bubble to be infectious and harboring malicious things. So I took it. However everyone still calle me midnight or midnub anyhow. Actually when this stuff is over with the Navy and I can get tattoos again, I am going to get midnight tattooed on my right clavicle in Russian cryllic, palnoch. Quote
KevX4 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 So okay, there's my nick : Insane. At first, my nick used to be KevX4 - my real is Kevin, hence the 'Kev' part. When I bought my first PC, I build it myself. Used to have a Q6600 proc in it, with 4 cores. And because 4C looked weird, I chose to label them as an 'X'. That's KevX4 explained. Second, we've got Insane, it's just short for Insanity, from the sentence 'Insanity is all around us' from the song -> Check 0.10. I very much liked the song (a while ago) so I picked Insane as a nick. It's really nice to see how deep/not deep at all some names are, I like topics like these :-). Quote
