I'm curious as to when the next map rotation will come about. No rush, just curious of the approximate date for the change because some people in the server have been asking.

Overgrown and Bloc (even though speed says it clears out the server lol).

 

Also, I know we have discussed custom maps and speed says he fears it may lag the player experience but has it actually been tried? I mean can we do a trial run and see which maps work and which do not? There are some cool maps out there and I would only want high quality maps on F|A servers.

really like vyder's idea of some custom maps on the rotation, with a mixture of classic ones too! drop crossfire!

Please, for the love of everything that is undead, DROP CROSSFIRE. I honestly cannot take that map and every time it comes up I afk until it's done. That map alone has drained me of all my urges to play CoD4.

Custom maps would be pretty cool too!

If I remember correctly custom maps we're vetoed for promod. Chances are it's a no-go here as well

This. Being custom maps, they need to be downloaded and on a very populated server like beginners, this means alot of downloads. Very slow downloads without a really good redirect. It would probably do more harm than good.

^Also I think that many players prefer the core maps over the custom maps.

 

I think we need to drop Chinatown haha, same feelings as Zomb.

I think what their point was is that it would lag the server with everybody downloading the new maps? (that's my understanding, not sure of the validity haha) But if this problem didn't exist, I'd like to see some custom maps as well!

Well, for starters the moment the rotation changes to include even one custom map we'll have 5-6+ players trying to download the same map at the same time. Then the following evening, after the change, we get a usual nightly flux from EU then we're looking at easily 20+ players trying to download the same map at the same time. I'd like to point out that, that is just the regulars. I'm not counting the amount of unique/new players we get daily. Overall it would be utter mayhem for about 2 - 3 weeks while the server slowly died a painful death.

 

EDIT: While I love the idea of playing custom maps, it is not going to happen on a server as heavily populated as Beginners. I would like to point Trials+ to the topic in Private Section titled "Custom maps server", if you're considering suggesting such a server.
