I was the same chron.. I couldnt do it at first but I persisted and then my KD went up from 1.2 to 2.3 :-D

Can you please elaborate on this? Is it something game specific or personal convenience which gives you an edge for switching over to WASD? I use the home/end/insert/delete button for leaning/prone/reload and for weapons the keypad and arrowkeys for movement. I will definitely give a try and switch over to WASD if it enhances my FPS skills. Thanks in advance

Well I guess - assuming you're right handed - that the left hand is limited when using the right-side of the keyboard, simply because it renders your VERY useful thumb, useles.. Using WASD, your thumb can easily reach ALT, Space, C, V, B, F, G, H, even N, M, J etc for me with my big hands lol.. I guess the left hand is just more functional using the left hand side of the keyboard.. In fact the keyboard was designed for your thumbs to use spacebar etc so it makes sense :P

I just don't think I can make the switch.. I tried when I got Far Cry 3 and it was a mess for me.. I have used the same keys like Goofy since the first Unreal, but I do feel like there are more options on the other side lol

Playing with wasd is a bit easier, because you have more keys around to bind, and because it's a more natural position for your left arm.

Even though, now that I think about it, if I had the space, it would be better to use the right side of my keyboard and push it to the left, so I could make more room for the mouse pad, because I use mostly the left side of it.

As Chuckun pointed out, how can you jump, crouch, etc. if you use the arrow keys? There is nothing below, so the natural thumb position is wasted.

I use my pinky to zoom to 90fov (shift)

Thumb to tap crouch (to become unhittable according to some, crouch hitboxes ftw :D) and to jump with space (but when I crouchjump I jump with mouse3), I am not a 'proner' but occasionally I also prone

Then the useful F to push people in close range, so they get prediction errors and they can't hit you well :P, I won't have so many keys nearby if I played with arrow keys.

Chron, do yourself a favor and really try hard to get the wasd down. You can mess around with different keys for different things. i.e. I have "e" as left lean and "r" as right lean, "q" is killout etc. You have soooo many more keys close to your hand whereas the arrow keys are kinda by themselves. You will like it a lot better after you learn your keys again.

Lol, I used to play the same as you Chr0n :) Literally up until about a year and a half ago, I was using the arrow keys.. Problem is, it limits your abilities SO much.. There just arent enough usable keys over there.. I definitely recommend making the switch to WSAD!

Sorry, I'm an old fart and I'm set in my ways. Also been using the arrow keys since the days of Doom 1 & 2 and find it too confusing to change my move keys now

lol I have everything set up around the arrow keys without problems... I've been using the arrow keys from the first game I played on PC, and later went configuring keys around the arrows going according to need. It's all about adapting the keyboard as best works for you :)

I'm using esdf XD

Start doing that since that way it doesn't cause problems for me when switching between azerty and qwerty (also I can reach an extra row of keys with my little finger) => did take some time to adjust from zqsd/wasd though (both are the same btw ;) )

Yah, I know some other people who use this as well. This is a good way to play!
