Hi I lost my ET Key ending with xxxxxxxx. It happened as my Computer's motherboard Crashed.

So I bought a new Gaming Rig.

I may have the key backed up in an old laptop that is at my parent's place. If I do have it backed up I'll be able to get it back in 1 month. For now I have got a new key ending with xxxxxxxx and have updated my profile.

I'll be grateful if you can give me my levels back on the server.

The old rig was PC desktop and current one also? IF "only" mobo crashed then you can put the old HD in the new rig and salvage all data?

Also if data isn´t recoverable and you have updated your profile with new GUID. Then you can back this one up in more places, like mail, CD\DVD etc(make sure everybody else doesn´t have good access to it, like USB which u lend to friends). And what Gubbi said.

Thanks for the replies, I'll remember backing new guid. I had backed the key in my old laptop. I'll try to get it back by September end.

The HDD had to be erased because of proprietary access protection locked with motherboard software :(.

I haven't heard of this before. Does anybody know of a list of manufacturers that do this? A don't-buy-from-them list, or a phrase that I could search for?

I am wondering if he meant that you can't move an HD with an OEM OS from one computer into another and expect to boot the system? I found mention that you could replace an HD in a Dell laptop with another brand, which may imply that you can't with others, but that is the opposite of the situation that Rajput describes.

There may have been ways to recover the HDD, but its already formatted now. I formatted it as I thought that all essential docs were backed up. Unfortunately the etkey is in program files folder which I do not backup :cry .
