Idea for Added Profile Info

Jimmy

Question

Im not sure if you guys would be able to do this or not but it would be awesome if you could add on a persons profile the ability to add their PS3, Xbox360 or Wii (Lol) gamertags so if anybody that also plays games on their could easily connect to other players in the community!! Just an idea and feedback is awesome!!

Thanks!

Jimmy

We can do that.. someone show some sample example of it...

Maybe do it on the side under users picture of the player is like:

Xfire: Krayzie801

PSN: Krayzie_Pieman

Xbox Live: F@!LB0X

Wii: Itsuhmeemario

Admin: 15

Server: CoD4

CoD4 GUID: 1337Z0R

Or maybe under where the GUID's are?

I do not think it would take up to much more space, only 2-3 extra lines. Just based of what I am seeing now, there is about 2 inches of empty space under your profile picture, and on other profiles as well, 1 line of text takes about 1/8th of inch. So I think that would be plenty of room for 3 lines of wording. Just my opinion though.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Just went to my profile and looked at the edit portion. ;)

If there was the option to do it under the "Profile Information" section where we list our Xfire and Guid, i think that would be good. This gives people the opportunity to view it from the people's posts in the forums instead of searching profiles. If this is a community where people are active on the froums there would be more attention gained from the information appearing under the user's profile pic than being added onto the user's profile, like where there age and sex are. Also if certain people have no life and post many times (like me) people can see that the individual is more active in the forum and more likely to respond to a request. :P

Appears to be http://continent.battle.net/game/language/profile/id/1/name/. Quite a lot to be stored.

Krauersaut, what are we looking at here? I understand that AJ posted something regarding this, but looking at the links you posted I am not seeing gamer tags and such. I just see achievements on the profile. Could you please clarify?

Euhmmm... I like adding things which makes 'the life on the forum' easier, but would adding this make post even longer

Some are already ridiculous long (alex for example: http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/33800-group-color-and-reputations/page__st__30?do=findComment&comment=303511).

Just asking because I like clean things and those extreme long post, look dam weird ^^

Appears to be http://continent.battle.net/game/language/profile/id/1/name/. Quite a lot to be stored.

The entire string of cherub is 56 characters. With currently (roughly) 6800 members, that would be about 300kb without overhead if everyone used it. With overhead, say about 10 times, it's still smaller than the average ET map.

Only point you might add is that it will increase the size of the database (and hence slower), but if it's stored efficiently in the members table, you won't notice a significant decrease.

That being said, I won't use/need it. Actually, I think it would even be a bad idea if that's (furthermore) added to the list of 'relevant information' left of this post (which is 99% of the time I read a topic not so relevant), but if it's hidden in the profile it's fine by me :)

^^ that indeed. Is it possible to get an option which allows you to 'not show' that information? Otherwise I'll try to do some CSS modifications in a not too far away future to do not display everything.

Good to know every award and GUID of someone, but I need that not so often. Alias, admin and avatar are good enough for me, the rest I'll find in the profile once I need it.

[edit]

Also, one thing to be said, those 'relevant information' is a lot less annoying when it is at least shorter than the post they made :P
