Chuckun Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Google+ Going to Fail? Popularity is already dropping. Is Google+ Going to fail? Since the openning of Google+ on June 28th, it is said (by comScore) that Google hit the 20 million unique visitors mark, which is truly staggering! Recent statistics however, show that although Google+ had a slightly rocky but still rather impressive start, user activity is actually declining not increasing. Visitor statistics for Google+ tell us that the amount of people visiting Google+ has dropped about 3% just over a week ago. The week before, the average visit duration was down a whopping 10%, dropping to just over 5 minute visitations. Representative Matt Tatham of the statistics company Experian Hitwise who released these statistics says that these drops are not large. But 3% of 20 million unique people is still 600,000 people. So is Google+ going to be a flop after all? Or is this just the result of a new product being looked at by everyone, and that 3% are just people who looked at it once and never planned on using it? The fall in visit duration however, is the most alarming. 5 minutes on average isn't bad, but it isn't good either. What do you think? I for one would love to pull Google+ right up to take on Facebook, and plan on using Google+ more readily from now on. Source: =F|A=Chuckun @ fearless-assassins.com Quote
Saizou Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 If Google+ really plans to take on Facebook, I don't believe it will happen overnight. I don't think people are ready to ditch Facebook just yet in favor of something else, one month is way early to tell. I wasn't informed well at that time but I think it's just like Myspace and Facebook, takes time for people to shift. Quote
Post(?)Organic Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I was just gonna say that, its too early to count Google + out of the runnings yet. Only time, will tell. Quote
Wifestein Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I have google + But I don't like it at all, facebook for the win! Quote
krAzy :) Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 i prefer g+, but all my friends have fb =( Quote
Chuckun Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 I agree with you all (except fb ftw -.-) It will indeed take time.. Myspace / Bebo were favoured by many over facebook, but then all of a sudden, everyone ditched them and went to facebook. Myspace is still alive but you never hear of bebo any more (apart from people taking the piss lol). I really am pulling for G+ to succeed though. I pray for the day when a reliable social networking site arises. Facebook change everything so much all the time, and just create so many bugs in their code. Example, every day for a week now I've apparently got one new notification. I view notifications and it's just the same 'like' of one of my status'.. It simply wont go. I hate how unstable it is. They should be able to provide better. I'm also looking forward to the increase in Adwords targetting, so I really really hope G+ prevails. Quote
Post(?)Organic Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I still find myspace to be very useful for music, but thats about it Quote
Duckie Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 all things considered... those "drops" aren't really that huge.. and isn't google+ still in private invite mode or whatever? something that is also interesting is that posts like this make me go back to google plus haha... oh yeah I have a google plus account, lets go check it out Quote
krAzy :) Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Facebook > google+ #fact lies fb has more bugs then g+, which is still in beta (i think) google will rule the world gmail, youtube, igoogle, google docs, android, blog, translate, google chrome, chromebook, calendar, google earth, google talk, picasa, and so much more. . .. . i love the new html5 in google chrome Quote

And also there wasnt a lie in my previous post, you cant compare them atm... Quote
epicofail Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Considering the ratio between males and females.. Obvious fail! Quote
Frated1 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I don't use Google+ just Facebook, but I use that very little. Like once a week? Quote
kami Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Facebook > google+ #fact Comparison bugs or not,i prefer it. And also there wasnt a lie in my previous post, you cant compare them atm... Stating that a comparison would be useless. Thats a fail. Thats a self contradiction fail. Roll the next clip steven. But its hard to tell how google+ will do in the future. On the one hand its still just a beta so it might change in course of time but on the other hand did google fail with social networking services like google buzz. Quote
SEGA Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I think Google+ will fail either, though Facebook is already here for years and people won't just leave it for something else. Quote
