Hello. Now i have a pc with windows xp 1,5 gb ram , 1,81 mhz CPU and 512mb GPU. And when im playing on server with many people my FPS in game are getting low, from 100 even down to 40 :S And is dificoult to play.

But in vacation i gonna buy new computer. And question is : With better PC my fps will not go down?

Dell XPS15 with the Core i5 (or i7 if you can afford it) and 3+ GB of ram, has proved decent for me. And it's metal, which is always good for heat sink and for style.

I think as long as you have certain settings in your cfg it wont go down that much

 

But on a server with 30+ your fps will go down by 40

 

buying a new computer is always a good choice though, you will see some improvement in Fps

i dont like laptops :/ so PC all the way for me. besides, he was askin bout PCs. anywho, you may not actually need a new PC all together. reason being, since PCs are the whole 'sha-bang' then most parts are interchangable. look at your motherboard, see what kind of CPU slot you have. (now that i think about it, you may not even have AM2 so you may need a new PC ;) ) long story short, you should be able to upgrade any/all your parts and save some dough.

Run cpuz and Post the Settings of your PC.

 

Also if you want Post your config. Let us take a look, maybe you have to Change some Settings.

I have contemplated on the very same problem and i chose an i-5 2500k ;)

1. i know that you want buy a new PC, but maybe you dont have to buy a new one (not if you want just play ET).

 

2. with post your config i mean go to ...\EnemyTerritory\ETmain\ and look for the file Autoexec.cfg and post it here (open it with Wordpad). maybe we can change some settings.

 

3. cpuz to show us your PC equipment (search on google for it)

 

4. if you have made ​​your decision about a new PC (PC or Notebook?) already have taken, what did you want to do with the new one ?

The tthing over looks a litle bit wierd for me but i just copied everything ;)

It will be good if it can fix it becouse i gonna still use this computer.

I gonna buy new PC to try some new games like COD sniper etc ;)

Holy smokes thats a long post. That computer was not bad when it was first bought, but a newer computer would certainly help with games like ET and newer. Typically for single threaded games, the faster the processor is, the better. Best of luck hunting for your new computer.

Hello. Now i have a pc with windows xp 1,5 gb ram , 1,81 mhz CPU and 512mb GPU. And when im playing on server with many people my FPS in game are getting low, from 100 even down to 40 :S And is dificoult to play.

But in vacation i gonna buy new computer. And question is : With better PC my fps will not go down?

here some short story to this: I played way back (1 or 1,5 years in the past) with my old computer on fa Recruting and hardcore. Normally I had with my old computer drops from 125 FPS to 60 FPS and when some flamerbabe or artyspammer comes on top of this, it slowes down to 20-30 FPS. It was a very frustrating experience and i lost my interest in playing ET. That was one year ago. Last month I did buy a new computer and testet in a relaxed moment the good old ET. I was speechless! Not a single lagspike or connection interupted anymore. I dont know if the admins here moved the server or optimized the performance lately, but I was certain, my poor performance from the past were a result of this huge server capacity (50 Players). Now I know, good hardware definetly makes the difference. I never had such a nice gameplay before and yes, its pure fun. Finally I understand much better, how it feels, when people complain daily about lag or shitty gameplay and think the server is the problem. It is not! Its simple your old hardware or settings.

 

I didnt change much cvars or something else. My system has 4GB RAM, 1GB Graphic card usw. I play with 125 FPS constantly on each fa server. maxpakets 60. Never have any lags. Plz dont push yourself to hard, but you wont get perfect results with your actual computer hardware. Sure you can optimize this and that, but believe me: Good hardware is the key for magnificent gameplay. So the answer to your question from my own experience: Yes, with a new and powerful computer you will play in the future with constant fps on every fA server. Trust me:=)
