Chuckun Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 E-Books better than real books? E-book sales beat paperbacks! In February this year, e-book sales topped paperback book sales for the first time ever. E-book sales carried a massive figure of $90.3million in February, which compared to the same month last year is a staggering 202%! However, a representative of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) pointed out some flaws in the report. Firstly, the sales figures were collected from the publishers, not book retailers figures. Which when you stop to consider that not all publishers submit such data since it is voluntary, one may question just how realistic these figures are. Nonetheless, statistically speaking - e-book sales are topping paperbacks! In January, Amazon had also reported that their paperback sales had been beaten by e-book sales. So are e-books really taking over the 'real deal'? Well, think about it - with all the digital book readers being produced now; from the Sony Reader to the iPad, why not? These digital e-book readers allow people to carry an entire library of books around with them all day long! Will this be the death of 'real' books? Well that's a matter of opinion. Personally, I don't believe so. Not everybody can afford a Sony Reader or an iPad. And even of those who can, many still prefer to read from paper, as reading from a screen can be somewhat elusive. It will be interesting however, to see where these figures stand in a year or two. Source: =F|A=Chuckun @ fearless-assassins.com Quote
Administrators daredevil Posted April 18, 2011 Administrators Posted April 18, 2011 Hate reading from e-Books. Always used books... My eyes bleed when reading from e-book. Book, paper and pencil. Quote
Chuckun Posted April 18, 2011 Author Posted April 18, 2011 I'm with you on that one bro ebooks are awful! Quote
Handzz Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 My wife has a Kindle, and she shares her account with 5 family members and friends. When one person gets a Kindle book all 6 Kindles get the same book and can read it simultaneously. It is already saving us money, and she loves it. Quote
Chuckun Posted April 18, 2011 Author Posted April 18, 2011 Indeed i can see the appeal.. I just don't like the idea of reading from a screen for everything xD Quote

Clan Friend SunLight Posted April 19, 2011 Clan Friend Posted April 19, 2011 I have a sony reader, it's (almost?) as comfortable for the eyes as a real book, but still I prefer real ones, that thing is too small... maybe I am old fashioned, but I like the idea of being able to read a book even on a desert island without electricity and all Quote
