Chuckun Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 A general brief: Rupert Murdoch controls almost half the UK's media, and heavily influences America too. If you care to look into it you'll see he f*cked Obama over through his extreme power with his media empire. He is about to take control of even more of our media coverage, and advancing with his bent indoctrination over the western world. In 48 hours, nearly half our commercial media could be owned by Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch has exploited his vast media empire to push war in Iraq, elect George W Bush, spread resentment of muslims and immigrants, and block global action on climate change. And he has interfered with our democracy -- determining our election results, bolstering political careers in exchange for influence and destroying others with media smears when they refuse to do his bidding. The government is deciding right now and the coalition is deeply divided. Let's tip the balance towards media independence by flooding UK leaders and senior ministers with our call to keep Murdoch's hands off our media. Send a message by filling out the form: We can stop him - already there's been an incredible response. This petition auto-completes a letter which will be sent to the UK Prime Minister, so he cannot ignore it. It takes seconds, please sign! http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_rupert_murdoch_uk/?cl=970132362&v=8537 Thanks guys, Chuck Quote

Chuckun Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 Ah I see - well so be it, it's a just cause Quote
Chuckun Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 That's not true at all. Petitions are the only way the public can even attempt to be heard. Avaaz actually submit their results, and our opinions to government - and government are SUPPOSED to listen to us, so there's a chance we'll make something happen, and even if we don't get what we want, does that mean the petition means nothing?! No. It means we at least tried to be heard, not sat saying "Whats the point" like a brat. On a side note; if you don't want to sign, you can disregard my post, you don't need to spam it with pessimism, b/s, etc. Thanks. Quote

At my college, literally hundreds of people signed petitions, some going as far to write to MPs in their local areas, somehow I don't think EMA is coming back. Are you absolutely mad? I assume you're talking about the UK government, the Tory manifesto had nothing whatsoever relevant to what they did now. Now that they've formed a happy coalition and sacked every other benefit, what do they say? Oops, my bad, seems Blair and Brown left us in a tad of a deficit, its all your fault that you forced us to form a coalition, if it was purely Conservative, they'd have made us pay even more tax! Ok, this is off topic- so I'll steer back on course. I don't know anything helpful about Rupert Murdoch, but I'll bet Cameron isn't going to anything to get on the rich people's bad side, bankers fund a large proportion of his party, and he won't do anything that'll change the status quo. If he tips the balance against a powerful multi-media figure, Murdoch can use his scope to change the bankers. Rant over. Edit: To enforce validity, I'll add that these petitions were joint Worker's Union, Socialist Party, and other representative petitions. Edited March 8, 2011 by darkfang77 Quote
vke Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Anything that f***s over Obama is good in my book. Quote
Chuckun Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Rupert Murdoch is a bigoted, racist conservative/tory - he is the conservative/tory party's gateway to indoctrination. He's their plug to the world. I know nothing of Obama so whether it's good or bad that he got f***ed over is beyond me.. But seriously, this guy has been instilling racism and such bullshit across the UK for far too long now. Quote
Crasher Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Never heard of him, but someone shouldn't have that kind of power. Quote
Administrators JoeDirt Posted March 8, 2011 Administrators Posted March 8, 2011 government are SUPPOSED to listen to us Sure if you hold a gun to their head. Never heard of him, but someone shouldn't have that kind of power. And this here is a prime example of what happens when 2 people are exposed to the influence of news corp and have an offspring.
