Stacking/# of players

Ever since I was an admin elsewhere, and now here, I've noticed a constant problem with stacking teams.

NATURALLY nobody wants to lose.. Seriously.. who turns their PC on, connects to an ET server saying "I want to get my ass kicked and watch my team lose every map"

 

 

Stacking sucks.. And it does happen naturally by chance when someone disconnects, then Axis has an open spot, new player joins Axis and happens to be a better player.

 

I personally think PRW is useless in determining fairness. The team wins, not that particular player, all that PRW really tells me is that a specific player happens to be on a winning team x number of times. Great. And useless..

 

 

The following is a true story. Which just happened. And this happens daily, and today it just annoyed me enough to post about it..

 

I've always used KD to help me in the past keep teams somewhat fair. But what REALLY annoys me, is when teams are stacked, and there's no auto-shuffle on that map/nobody has admin high enough to shuffle, and the whole map is played, with Axis stacked, with all but 2 players at or above 2.xx KD, and allies don't have 1 player at 2.xx KD, So we have stacked teams the whole map, 8vs7, 8vs8, 7vs8.. but the number of players on each team is close the whole map..

 

Then all of a sudden the stacked Axis team in this case, is down TWO (2) players, and OMG WTF OMG everyone on Axis starts to whine !teams. While allies are STILL getting raped, even with Axis being down 2 players.

 

When I first applied, I did the same thing, and hadn't read http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/2785-wet-admin-guide-when-and-how-to-use-admin yet.

An admin in the game told me not to worry about the # as much, and just play, have fun.

Then I read that thread by daredevil..

 

And it made perfect sense. But we have some admins that need to read that thread :-/

 

 

I don't want to sound like an a**h****, but it's just REALLY beyond frustrating, struggling an entire map with a GREAT team that works together, doesn't quit, doesn't complain when we're losing badly. We know we're losing, but everyone keeps working together to try to win, We're still KINDA having a little fundespite the fact that axis has raped us at the spawn over and over, and when we FINALLY catch a break with Axis down 2 players with 3 minutes left on the map, and Axis starts whining.

I agree with you on the teamstacking thing... its been a rampant problem. numerically and xp wise the teams may appear fair but i've specced quite a few maps wishing i could shuffle. !putteam only works if the players afk and its to S but if you try puttin someone on the other team it starts an argument, "why are u singling me out , bla bla". anywho FA has some big rating servers and the SL raters know you dont rise on the losing side. anywho i feel ya bud. people bitching about hax, bots, and typically random insanity is ever present unless the kiddies are offline.

I can totally relate. Unfortunately almost everyone does it at times. Some... a lot more than others. Some just live to do it. It happens, and will continue to happen, because people seriously would rather just play on the winning team. As you say, nobody gets on, trying to get psyched up about losing. They do, however, get on and psyche themselves up about getting headshots and owning people.

Lol, that's so true. I was playing on jay1, teams were extremely stacked and new round was starting. There were probably 3 F|A guys with ability to !shuffle (Baska, DJ, don't remember the last one). I wrote in pm 'can anyone shuffle?' I got a respond couple seconds later from DJ saying 'Baska'. Luckily Baska shuffled and teams were ok. But come on, if you have ability to !shuffle, do it when teams are stacked/unfair as hell.

You can always say even teams please, mostly people switch over

if they dont and you arent able to do !shuffle than to random put like i do

for example !put 10 r !put 11 r and so on...

I do that everyday. Mostly, no one switchs the team and always have to use !put so.. nothing new in here Oly.

Can't agree more with you. I'm getting bored too of this.

 

The thing i hate the most is when a guy is on the loosing team, getting hardly owned, then join specs waiting for a free slot in the winning team. Two minutes later, he kills you .. Same thing after a shuffle, by just looking your console, you can see "Noob1 has joined the allied team", "Noob2 has joined the axis team" blablabla. Most of them are kids just caring about rating, the same ones that are ego-quiting when they're getting owned.

 

I'm always trying to switch when the opponent team's getting owned or is 5v10 coz i like to kill the campers at enemy spawn But don't ask me to switch myself 5 maps in a row!

 

Even if the shuffle command isn't so fair (xp isnt skill), it's still better than nothing. Then would be nice to have an auto-shuffle after 1 or 2 maps.

I hop teams regularly and check the player list with Tab every so often so it's fair. I could care less if I lose, but most of the time when I hop, I win for my team (sometimes lol)

win or lose I always have fun, if I see one team is becoming an underdog I like to change to the losing team

not that I can make much difference but I like to try. sometimes the losing team has too many players but there

are so many factors (I too was high level admin in the past) that it is hard to control. If the admin online are

aware of what is happening they might switch a key player or two to see if it helps.

Its alot of work being admin so I always have respect for them and if asked to switch (or get switched) I dont

complain. Good luck with this very tuff issue.

There is no fair teams in any game unfortunately and auto shuffle doesn't wok. Only way to make fair teams is to know most of the regulars on the server and know their skill level and then !putteam them on opposite teams.

I ask to even teams please 2 times then !balance. People always cry about being moved but thats just the way it goes. You cant please everyone all the time. If they log off and then come back to be able to return to their previous team I !putteam them. I just explain that we will shuffle at the next map and to please just play the current map and have fun.

 

Its the new players that are the most important visitors to the servers. A rater will b*** but he/she will come back anyway. The most important thing is to not let a noobie be driven away from our servers or ET because they have a shi**y playing environment that was not addresed by an admin or clan member.

Before join to any team i check the k/d ratio and based in that i join to the loser team or the one with less players. Atleast in silent server people understand the first warn and help balancing teams.

k/d is bs,i can get highes+ fragger and my k/d stays at 0.460 or smth.

And btw autoshufle always puts the best player (according to kd) to axis so that kinda makes it unfair from the beggining,but its better than having nothing at all.

Shuffle is based on XPs, not on k/d ratio
