I’m in the market for a new keyboard. I’ve only ever used “full” size keyboards, but I could probably adjust to something a little smaller. I do want to have a number pad though. I’ve looked a bit online and read some reviews, but kind of overwhelmed at the number of options and huge spectrum of prices.

I don’t think I need some top of the line gaming keyboard, but would like to get something a little nicer than the real basic/stock keyboards I’ve used for many years.

Anyone have any recommendations? Any brands to stay away from? Thanks for any input!

All depends, I bought a good "expensive" keyboard, spilled beer on it one time, stopped working. Bought a cheap keyboard, spilled multiple beers and glasses of wines on it, still works.

Haha! Well there’s a +1 for a simple cheap keyboard. I’m shocked I’ve never spilled on mine, and by posting this that pretty much guarantees I will in the near future 😀

thanks for linking that one! Very reasonably priced for razer. I took a look at the reviews and some are saying there are issues if you hold more than 3 keys at a time. Have you had any issues with that? Maybe I’m misunderstanding the issue the people in the reviews are reporting, but seems like that would be an issue for gaming 🤷

I've been using a Steelseries Apex 3 for a long time, about a year and a half and I like it. It was $50 USD on Amazon

I've had Corsair K55 for almost ten years. Zero issues so far. Supposedly it's also spillproof, haven't tested it myself😅. It was like 50 euros back in the day, great bang for the buck.

Thanks HipKat and Freerider for the recommendations. I'm liking these $50-ish dollar options and will add those to the list to check out :)

And thanks to Kiba and leatherface for some more recommendations. A lot of these suggestions were not on my radar so I appreciate everyone’s input. I don’t think I’m going to be spending as much as I thought I might be 😀

I'm sure you have all been eagerly waiting on the follow-up on which keyboard maecraes has chosen. I decided to go the old fashioned route and take myself to my local Best Buy and see what I liked in person. I ended up going with this Keychron V5 Max. While it was a bit more than I was planning on spending, it does feel really nice and I also like the style of it with it not being too over the top gamer RGB styled. I spend nearly my entire work day on my computer and then a fair amount of non-work time (mainly on ET haha) on it as well, so I figured I should just get something nice. Kind of like getting a nice bed, I spend a significant portion of my life using it so why not splurge.

Are the superior polling rates and responsiveness of this beast propelling my gaming to the next level? Absolutely not, but I do like it :)

I have a razer Hunstman v3 pro and DO NOT recommend. I have huge issues with the three keys and will be replacing it ASAP. Very disappointed consider how much I spent.
