Platinum VIP Popular Post Magi Posted January 25, 2023 Platinum VIP Popular Post Posted January 25, 2023 (edited) Hey gals and fellas been thinking of doing something like this for a while now. Just a simple guide for applicants who are new to admin commands. It might help unexperienced peeps or some that are hesitant on utilizing tools given in dire situations when encountering events on our servers when admins are either present or absent. below is a list of some commands that applicants will have an can utilize to get you started. For now this is just for Silent Mod applicants. Sorry Jaymod 😁 SCORES One thing to keep in mind is keeping track of scores. Scores are a key factor to getting recognized when applying or during an applicant phase. Push tab to see scores between both teams A good example of this is a team not advancing as pictured above or one team is down a number of players than the other team. Moving yourself to a team that needs it is ideal but sometimes it's not enough. A simple command to get things straighten as well is the teams command. For example type in the chat or console !teams1 or !teams2 this will call out to even teams!! For applicants encountering troubled players here is a procedure to get in the habit of taking action. /Players – Displays a list of players on the server with their team, ID, name and connection settings such as rate and max packets. type /players in the console to see a list of players in the server. to get to console push ` on your keyboard to bring up console After typing /players you will then see a list of ID's that will distinguish each player in said sever, For Example. This is probably one of the most useful console commands starting out when learning to be and becoming an admin. The basis for most admin command you utilize will be attributed to /Players **ADMIN COMMANDS** Some useful admin commands for lvl5 applicants that you can utilize to your advantage if trouble pops up when you're all alone and need to take action. !afk !warn !kick say a player is AFK in spawn on Beach just standing around or in spawn, lets use cloud9 for example, type in the console or in chat !afk ID# (enter) after 30 seconds of not moving the player will be put into spec. Example !afk 24 Cloud8 are you AFK? please confirm - you have 30 seconds to reply! Say the player is causing trouble? type in the console or in chat !warn ID# (reason) you have to have a reason in order for your warn to stick. Example !warn 24 stop whining or !warn 24 Trolling Say the warn needed to be Removed? !dewarn ID# (to remove warn you need to add a number for it to stick and for the warn to be removed) Example !dewarn 24 1 warn found for Cloud9 reason: stop whining (by: person) !dewarn 24 1 Say you needed to Kick a player? Of all the Things on heaven and earth the player is mouthing slurs and just being a nuisance. !Kick ID# (you need a reason to kick the player) Example !Kick 24 take a break **note you can only warn, dewarn or kick someone the same level as you or below it does not work for a level that is above you** As Always whenever you encounter a troubled player, whether insulting or trolling or just being a pain in the ass.. screenshot screenshot screenshot. always have you're proof! If things are going too fast during an encounter take a deep breath and push ` to open up the console. You will be able to see previous messages, chats and logs, the console knows all! once you find your proof you can type /screenshot and hit enter. et will save a screenshot in your Silent folder Screenshots A screenshot takes a picture of what you’re seeing on screen. By default these are stored in the Screenshots folder of their respective mod. By default F11 will take a screenshot. Below are some other ways of taking some with examples. /Autoscreenshot – This functions the same as F11 and saves a jpeg file with a name like ‘2011-01-26-161741-et_beach.jpg. The format is: YYYY-MM-DD-HHMMSS-Mapname.jpg. /Screenshotjpeg TestFolder/TestSS – Saves a jpeg image named TestSS in \Wolfenstein – Enemy Territory\Mod\Screenshots\TestFolder. If no name is given it’ll be saved as shot0000, shot0001 etc. /screenshot Test – Saves a .tga file named Test in the screenshots folder. If no name is given it’ll be saved as shot0000, shot0001 etc. your alternate for txt proof Condumps Say you need a log of the recent chat and or player? type in the Console /condump Example /condump dumped console to txt /Condump cloud9.txt dumped console txt to cloud9.txt This will dump the last logged chat text into a notepad or wordpad file that you will be able to find in your silent folder under .txt or if you save it under a name for example cloud9.txt Condumps A condump saves all text that is currently visible in the console directly into a file. This is very useful for copying stuff like finger information over to the forums. If you add ‘.txt’ to the end of the condump name, the file will become a txt file and can be opened with Notepad. If you forget to add the ‘.txt’ to the end then Notepad won’t separate the lines properly, this can be fixed by using a program such as Notepad++ or Wordpad. By default a condump is saved in the base mod folder of the server you are playing on. For instance, if you’re playing on Jay1, the condump is saved in the Jaymod folder (\Wolfenstein – Enemy Territory\Jaymod). You can change this by putting the name of a folder and a forward slash before the name of your file, examples are given below. /Condump Jay1/ETPlayerA.txt – Saves a txt file named ETPlayerA in a folder called Jay1 (\Wolfenstein – Enemy Territory\Jaymod\Jay1). /Condump ABC – Saves a file with no extension named ABC in the mod folder of the server you’re on at the time. You can also do a demo Say you need to Follow a player or record info? type in console type /Follow ID# (you will then be following said player) Example /Follow 24 Then type in the console /record to start recording demo after what you needed is done type /stoprecord to end demo you will then find your demos under your silent folder under silent>demos Demos A demo is a .dm_84 file (or .dm_82 for ET 2.55) that saves the movement of all players that are on the server when you’re recording. You can press F12 to start a demo or use one of the commands below. /Autorecord – This functions the same as F12 and records a demo with a name like '2011-01-26-161741-et_beach.dm_84'. The format is: YYYY-MM-DD-HHMMSS-Mapname.dm_84. /Record TestDemo – Records a demo with the name TestDemo. You’ll find this in the demos folder of the mod you are playing on at the time of recording. /Demo TestDemo – Opens a demo with the name TestDemo. You must choose the right mod when you launch ET to view it. Make sure you don’t use this instead of the Record command or you’ll disconnect from the server. As always don't be afraid to take action and step in. We're all in this together. this guide is just to help you get started, talk to fellow members don't be afraid to reach out to higher level's if you have questions. and remember the golden rule. Our Golden Rule Sometimes you can solve a situation with ease, but you may find that you’ll need to use certain commands when dealing with troublemakers. With that in mind, remember this: If a problem can be resolved with a verbal warning, why use any commands? If a problem can be resolved with a warning command, why mute? If it can be resolved with a mute, why kick? If an issue can be resolved with a kick, why ban? We encourage our admins to try to speak with people before issuing commands, especially if they aren't repeat offenders. Everyone can sometimes get lost in the moment or have bad days with things happening in real life, so on many occasions establishing contact with the person to reason with them is the better solution and also helps develop a mutual respect. This also ensures nobody's ego gets hurt as commands like !warn, !mute, !kick which can be seen by everyone can often agitate the player more - especially if they believe its unjust and extreme, so we always try to use them as a last resort. noob1 Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Speaking for myself who is probably the newest person to this, really appreciate you putting this together Magi! I had no idea about condumps so that's a good piece of information to keep in mind vs scrolling up in console to get screenshots. 4 Quote
Armagedonyx Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Thanks for the help Magi, I hope that you'll do the same for Jaymod too soon as I rarely play on Silent Mod. 1 1 Quote

Snuffs99 Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 (edited) Nice tutorial. Only thing i can see that needs altering is the "Scores" section. Pressing tab tells you very little about the scores other than the overall team score and player numbers, this does not give an accurate picture. Using \scores in console tells you a much bigger story balance wise. When looking at scores don't just assume kills per team is the key, peeps should take into account attacking teams progress, damage given/received etc, You can have an attacking team with great engies who can help progress the map forwards but those same engies may have a very high negative KD ratio because they are doing their jobs etc so should look at \scores in console for a better overall picture of team balance. Other than that great job. Oh also other than the admin commands the tutorial as is should be good for jaymod and NQ too. List of admin commands for the various mods, admin structure etc and other rules etc can be found on FA's wiki page https://fearless-assassins.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page Edited January 27, 2023 by Snuffs99 6 2 Quote
