Just stereotypes, sure some are true, and some not and the exception proves the rule. But nothing beats personal experience... I will never forget when I was around 10 years old and was at my Portuguese uncles house playing with my cousin... Then we found some 7UP bottles under the sink, but they were weirdly filled up to the cap and the label was scratched off... And we were like, hey, nice we found some 7UP, let's drink it... Long story short, I will never forget how this moonshine almost burned off my throat... But also it was always very common on these EU cultural countries when these folks had some sort of events, that they shared a zip of wine with the kids. In my hometown, there was a European street festival once a year celebrating Europes unity. As kids, it was common to visit our friends' fathers' stalls and mooch off them all we could… First, we went to the Italian stall, where we asked a friend's father for wine and pizza slices. Then another friend, half French, went to his father at the crêpe stand and asked him to get us a shot of red wine and a Nutella crêpe… I went to my father at the Portuguese stall, and we got grilled sardines and a sip of wine there. Finally, my half-Spanish cousin went to his father at the Spanish stall with the same intention and got us some paella and a zip of wine there. It's not like that we were drunk or something, propably just 100 ml of wine each in a time period of many hours. but it was also the 90s and it was a different time. It's still considered as medicine in these cultures, and tbh... Kids poison themselves with far more than just alcohol these days... When I see the kids coming home from school having their monsters or red bulls in their hands, while the other holds the pringles can... I mean,... Common... 1 1 Quote
