GLW_StartOpenGL( ) - could not load OPENgl Subsystem

Question

Hello guys,I have some problem with my game..

Before i played ET and now i decided to back but

recently my graphic card died (nvidia GeForce - GT 540M (1gb))

But my laptop have intergrared one , Intel ® HD Graphics...

With that one i can play some demandig games like PES 2013 etc. so i dont think that card is poor one...

I tried update drivers,still no effect

I read the rest of the topics about this problem but nothing helps,so is there any other ideas?(updated with slimdrivers program too)

Installed last video card drivers,Installed Slim drivers and i done each update,I changed to r_mode -1 ,changed resolution in my configs , reinstalled directX...nothing happens

maybe the resolution you set is wrong, or there is something else

 

as a test, try starting ET in window mode via r_fullscreen 0 (and maybe lower resolution) and see if it works without fullscreen

I tried and still nothing :(

 

Is this means no ET for me?

EDIT: I have also PES 2013,Archlord,NFSMW and i play it without any problems...

If I remember correctly there should be some debug or log cvar, maybe if you enable it you can see more infos in the log, but I can't check it from this PC right now

 

btw ET uses opengl so directx is not related

Did you removed old graphics drivers, so there would be no trace of old profilies and driver  files? Also try to run ET in XP compatibility mode.

and did you tried all r_modes 1 to 8(if I remember correctly)?

Some1 in google suggested to update chipset drivers...

But it might be int. graphics doesn´t have OpenGL support.

Here is something that I was going to post during a can't-sleep night, but thought better of it the next day.  It's kind of stream-of-conciousness Google-searching, but there might be something in here for you.   :)

 

I have Windows 7 Pro and can look up the opengl file-info in my win32 and the wow64 folders for you. In notes below, somebody says that they are links to the actual opengl files that any graphics driver would use.

Others seem to be having similar problems.  Your B950 cpu has "Integrated on-chip Intel Sandy Bridge graphics" according to this review-site:  http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/350/Intel_Pentium_Dual-Core_Mobile_B950_vs_Intel_Pentium_Dual-Core_Mobile_B960.html and they did test it with opengl.

 

The Intel moderator on this forum: https://communities.intel.com/message/185850

says "if it is Sandy Bridge, it will feature OpenGL 3.1", and provides some advice about drivers.

 

I just wonder about the switch between the broken discrete Graphics card and the Integrated Graphics.  Is the old card out of the case?  You can use Device Manager to see what is said about the drivers.

 

I noticed in your Log:

execing autoexec.cfg

couldn't exec autoexec2.cfg

and I wonder if this means some file corruption, assuming autoexec is set to exec autoexec2.

 

I looked up the "Check com_crashed." in your Log and they may be there only because ET crashed.  ]http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/10538-com_crashed

You can do a Windows Search for "profile.pid" in etmain and the other mods and delete them if they are there. They should only exist when ET is running. If they remain when ET next starts, ET assumes it had crashed and uses only the default cvars.  (Which should enable ET to start and remove the pid files when it stops normally).

 

It would be interesting to see what "seta r_lastValidRenderer " is set for in your etmain\profiles\profilename\etconfig.cfg.

 

I put a copy of my etmain console.log in the spoiler for you to compare a successful opening with.  My card is AMD/ATI, so some of the modules will have different names.  I have yet to set it so ET quits opening at 800x600, too!

BTW, you have all those "Check com_crashed." lines early in the log because ET will disable the cvars before the graphics is initialized.

 

The upshot of my inquiries is that the problem may be drivers or is to be found in Papito's links.



ADDED:


"Saftnase" says:  "Ok, it is solved now... just so it may help someone else: I removed the file "opengl32.dll" from the folder "WINDOWS/system32". I was only able to do that in safe mode with command line. Then i downloaded a new copy of the file somewhere (dll-downloads.com" or something like that) and put it in the system32 folder. This file is not included in the drivers from Nvidia. Then it worked. I have absolutely no clue why."

"Mitsubishi" replies: "This file is provided by Windows and it's not part of any OpenGL driver from a specific hardware manufacturer; it's simply a "router" or a wrapper of info from an OpenGL application to the actual OpenGL drivers of a card.

 

Hence ideally if you lose it you find it from the Windows CD/DVD or its updates, not from the driver of the card.

 

"btw, it can also be put into a game's directory to be read from there; so one can try different versions in case that's needed."

 

This implies that you can test the openGL by putting a copy of the "OpenGL 3.1" dll into the same folder at ET.exe.  This would still leave in question whether the opengl drivers for the Sandy Bridge Integrated Graphics are fubar or not.

PFD rejected because of software acceleration?

It looks like you don't have driver support for hardware accelerated opengl, so it's not a matter of resolution or r_mode or depthbits, etc.

 

I think you have to check your drivers

 

with +set r_allowSoftwareGL 1 ET could start, but it would be superslow... and I don't know if that setting is even allowed...

BTW, you have all those "Check com_crashed." lines early in the log because ET will disable the cvars before the graphics is initialized.
 
The upshot of my inquiries is that the problem may be drivers or is to be found in Papito's links.

ADDED:
"Saftnase" says:  "Ok, it is solved now... just so it may help someone else: I removed the file "opengl32.dll" from the folder "WINDOWS/system32". I was only able to do that in safe mode with command line. Then i downloaded a new copy of the file somewhere (dll-downloads.com" or something like that) and put it in the system32 folder. This file is not included in the drivers from Nvidia. Then it worked. I have absolutely no clue why."
"Mitsubishi" replies: "This file is provided by Windows and it's not part of any OpenGL driver from a specific hardware manufacturer; it's simply a "router" or a wrapper of info from an OpenGL application to the actual OpenGL drivers of a card.
 
Hence ideally if you lose it you find it from the Windows CD/DVD or its updates, not from the driver of the card.

This implies that you can test the openGL by putting a copy of the "OpenGL 3.1" dll into the same folder at ET.exe.  This would still leave in question whether the opengl drivers for the Sandy Bridge Integrated Graphics are fubar or not.

And yes Sunlight i tried but its sooo damn slow :/

I think that everyone who replied thinks that it is a driver problem of some sort.  The newest drivers sometimes cause problems.  I installed the latest drivers and software for my graphics card and it became slower than my old 3ghz Pentium 4, even on the lowest resolution and graphics settings.  I could see in Task Manager that all of my core-threads were busy, instead of ET just using most of one.  

In the last part of my message, where it starts as:

The poster is saying that his copy of opengl32.dll was corrupt (or wrong) and that he replaced it.  "Mitsubishi" replies that opengl32.dll acts as a "go between" between the system and the actual openGL functions in the drivers for your graphics hardware.  He is also saying that you can put a known good copy of opengl32.dll into the Wolfenstein folder where et.exe is and test run ET.  This is easier than booting to Safe Mode and replacing the current opengl32.dll file that is in c:\windows\System32.
 
I found two "opengl32.dll" files on my Windows 7 Pro system.
 
One was in c:\windows\system32 and is 0.99 MB (1,039,872 bytes) and the
other was in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and is 773 KB (791,552 bytes).
 
I made screen-caps of the properties of both files and have attached the images in the zip files below.  You can right-click on the files on your Win7 Ultimate system and compare their properties to mine from Win 7 Pro.

The console dump that the poster had on the page prior to my link shows his game acting very much like yours, with the game trying several settings before giving up:
