    1. PlayStation 4 owners are reporting that BioWare’s new game, Anthem, has bugs severe enough that the game is forcing their consoles to shut down. In rare cases, some players are claiming that Anthem’s crashes are “bricking” their PS4s, rendering them unusable. This past week, the Anthem subreddit has been rife with reports of severe crashes. “When encountering a crash or game error, sometimes I get booted to the main menu or out of the game completely to the PS4 dashboard,” Reddit user forthemasters wrote. “But twice now when trying to matchmake my PS4 has completely turned off. Don’t worry about the loot patch ffs, sort the bugs out first please.” That post has more than 1,400 upvotes on Reddit. A “public service announcement” from another Anthem player has racked up more than 3,100. “No other game causes my playstation to randomly turn off while playing,” wrote Reddit user TheMadTitanGuantlet. “My [PS4] has been completely bricked to the point of not even turning on because of Anthem. I’m not looking for any sympathy or anything. This post is mainly being made to warn people that this could potentially damage your console to the dreaded point of no return.” In last week’s episode of the Giant Bomb podcast, co-host Brad Shoemaker offered a similar account of Anthem hard-crashing his PS4. Shoemaker said the process powers off the console and results in a system check that takes roughly five minutes to fully restart the hardware. Anthem players have shared similar stories on the game’s official technical support forum. Some affected Anthem players on PS4 have reported successfully getting refunds directly from Sony, while others have said they’ve had no such luck. 3. I wanted to know if there are ps4 players who plays BF1.
    4. Update: The Steam free weekend event is already live, and as expected, it comes with a discount: You can pick up the full game for $25. Original Story: If you haven't yet picked up Rainbow Six Siege, this weekend will present you with an opportunity to try it out for free on both PC and PS4. With its next free expansion arriving in a week, Ubisoft has announced it will make the game available for free on both platforms from November 11-13. This marks the first time PS4 owners will have the chance to try it for free; previous free events have been available on both PC and Xbox One (which is not included this time around). This is the full version of Siege that will be available. These types of promotions are typically accompanied by sales on the game in question, though Ubisoft didn't mention if that would be the case here. We've followed up with the company to find out more. If you're patient, we do know you'll be able to pick up Siege for $15 on Black Friday at places like Walmart and Target. Ubisoft continues to tout that Siege is doing well. Today's announcement claims there are more people playing now than there were at launch. Meanwhile, Ubisoft is set to fully reveal the game's Red Crow update this weekend, followed by a launch on November 17. 5. Following a closed beta test earlier this year, an open beta for id Software's new shooter Doom is now available across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PS4 (5.4 GB) Xbox One (8.57 GB) PC (22 GB minimum required space) Beta players will get to try Doom's team deathmatch and Warpath modes on the Heatwave and Infernal maps. You can learn more about these through GameSpot's previous coverage: maps, modes. Here is a full rundown of what's included in the Doom beta, as written by id Software: Maps: Heatwave and Infernal Game Modes: 6v6 Team Deathmatch and Warpath Demon: Revenant Weapons: Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, Super Shotgun, Vortex Rifle, Static Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, and Lightning Gun Power Weapons: Gauss Cannon Equipment: Frag Grenade, Personal Teleporter, Siphon Grenade The trial period ends on April 17 across all platforms, though it's not clear exactly what time that day it will come to a close. Doom is slated for a May 13 release date. In other news about the game, Bethesda recently announced the game's post-launch DLC, which will include more maps, weapons, items, and customization options. 6. Housemarque, the guys who brought us some brilliant PlayStation games like Resogun and Dead Nation, are bringing us their newest title- it’s called Alienation, and it looks pretty cool. And today, they shared a brand new trailer for the title. The trailer shows us a fair bit of footage from the game, as well as introducing us to the game’s co-op mode, and the playable classes. The co-op mode can support up to four players, and there are three different playable classes. The game can be played single player as well, but Housemarque says that it has been designed for a co-op experience, and it is best experienced that way. So, you guys need to go out and make yourselves some friends, then. Alienation launches exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on April 26. You can pre-order it now, and get 10% off. 7. Sony is giving developers further access to the PlayStation 4's CPU resources, potentially paving the way for enhanced performance in future games, if the latest documentation from a middleware company is to be believed. Buried within the most recent update details for the audio tool FMOD, which was released mid-November, a note reads: "PS4--Added FMOD_THREAD_CORE6 to allow access to the newly unlocked 7th core." The data, which was unearthed on the Beyond3D developer forum, has become the subject of speculation across numerous online game communities such as NeoGAF. Unless it was written in error, FMOD's note suggests that Sony has made a crucial back-end change to the PS4 system software that, in theory, allows the platform's games to draw from further processor resources. The PS4 is assembled with an eight-core AMD Jaguar, clocked at 1.6GHz. Two of those cores are reserved for system operations, along with about 3.5GB of its memory. In January, Microsoft began to allow developers to use the Xbox One's seventh CPU core, at least partially, which is believed to be one explanation for the enhanced performance of games released in 2015 compared to the year prior. Differences between PS4 and Xbox One resolution and frame-rates have been less pronounced in 2015, with often no meaningful difference between both systems, as some examples below demonstrate: -Battlefield Hardline - PS4 900p, Xbox One 720p -Star Wars Battlefront - PS4 900p, Xbox One 720p -Batman Arkham Knight - PS4 1080p, Xbox One 900p -Metal Gear Solid 5 - PS4 1080p, Xbox One 900p -Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - PS4 1080p, Xbox One 1080p-900p (dynamic) -Project CARS - PS4 1080p, Xbox One 900p -Evolve - PS4 1080p, Xbox One 900p Whether the enhanced CPU access on PS4 could result in a widening of that gap is a matter for debate. 8. Judge tosses out a class-action lawsuit related to PlayStation 4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall. Last summer, a man launched a class-action lawsuit against Sony Computer Entertainment, alleging that the company misled consumers by claiming Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer mode featured 1080p graphics. He was looking to recover damages for the group to the tune of $5 million. Now, according to Courthouse News, a judge has dismissed the case "with prejudice," which basically means permanently. The publication notes that settlement terms were not disclosed. Neither side has weighed in with a statement on the dismissal of the case. The suit was originally filed in August 2014 by a man named Douglas Ladore in U.S. District Court in California. He claimed that gamers "quickly noticed and complained that Killzone's multiplayer graphics were blurry to the point of distraction." This is despite Sony having claimed the game would offer "1080p multiplayer graphics, a crowning achievement in the video game industry," and having even featured the 1080p figure on the game's box. In addition to the $5 million in damages, Ladore sought to prevent Sony from continuing to advertise Shadow Fall as running in 1080p. The game's PlayStation Store product page does not mention 1080p as one of the game's selling points, though it's unclear if it ever did. A Digital Foundry report from March 2014 revealed that Shadow Fall uses a technique called temporal reprojection to achieve its resolution. The lawsuit said this is meant to provide "'subjectively similar' results" to full 1080p, but that it isn't the same. For its part, Shadow Fall developer Guerrilla Games acknowledged that it used the temporal reprojection method to combine pixels and motion vectors from multiple lower-resolution frames as a means to reconstruct a full 1080p image. 9. Are you bored looking at your PlayStation 4's blue background? Well, you're in luck. When firmware 2.0 launches for PlayStation 4, you'll be able to download and utilize custom themes on your machine. This news was revealed at Sony's pre-TGS press conference, and interestingly, similar news was also revealed for Vita, which will also be getting custom themes once Vita firmare 3.30 launches. Custom themes for both PS4 and Vita are largely modeled after the theme system that has been in use on PlayStation 3 for years. Themes let you alter your background image, as well as the appearance of various icons. In case you're curious, this isn't the first time we've heard talk of PS4's meaty 2.0 update. The roadmap for firmware 2.0 was first outlined at Gamescom, and includes other substantial features in addition to custom theme support, most notably direct video upload to YouTube, custom friend-finding options, and something called Share Play, which allows players from around the world to collaborate on completing a game together. 10. So... we are 2 months away from the new consoles coming out. I haven't owned a playstation since the very first one that came out and have owned multiple nintendo/microsoft consoles since then. Besides paying for xbox live service for the xbox 360 I have nothing to complain about from microsoft. From what I heard, the xbox live service is better than the free internet service playstation gets (can anyone verify this from previous experience? ) I am kinda leaning towards the ps4... some of my friends are getting it and I love that I do not have to pay for the online experience. What is everyone else planning to get? Also, leave a reason as to why you are getting that system Thanks!
