From the album: Xernicus' Photography
Composition of two images combined with some effects to create a bold fantasy and moody feeling. Thought I uploaded this long ago. Location: Johannesburg Pass, Northern Cascade Range. Camera: Canon EOS 60D 44mm focal length, f/11, ISO 100 Note: This is a digitally watermarked and lower quality copy. Trusted members can PM me for a full quality image if interested.© 2016-2018 Xernicus

Every once in awhile, I like to look at exposures I've taken a year or two back and see how my perception of the image has changed. I also use it as an exercise to see what skills have developed/improved, which still need work (though there is no such thing as too much improvement ) So I decided to take a favorite old photo of mine, and re-process it. And well... I just had to share the results. The software used is the same (Photoshop, and Camera RAW), though the techniques I used for the color tones, highlights, sharpening- and even noise reduction- have changed. "2 second waterfall" (2014 edit) "Happy Creek" (2016 Edit) Let me know what you think! (And for the folks who are interested, feel free to download and use this image as a wallpaper!)

One of the things I do after post-processing my photos in Adobe Camera Raw is to continue to fine-tune corrections I made in Camera Raw with the extended features of full featured Photoshop. I rarely click them, but today I was curious how Photoshop would edit my photo(s) if I didn't have the experience in post processing that I currently have, and relied on "auto correction". So here is the original, out of Camera Raw: And this is what Photoshop wanted to do with it: Sure, it looks somewhat cool, but my main goal when taking nature photography is to have it look, well, natural. Just for grins, I threw this into Adobe Photoshop CS2 and hit the automatic buttons as well. I didn't save the results, but they were more natural looking- which would point to a (bad, imo) change in Algorithms used to edit the color hues, saturation, and luminance.

art / gfx Random Photo Manip
SinfulRaevyn posted a topic in Art / Screenshot / PhotoGallery / Signature
I tried something different this time.. A little more complex. This is about three days work. Adding little pieces at a time, here and there. I'm still not 100% satisfied with it, but comfortable enough to show it off I guess. This was the starting model image. And this is the result... Darker copy: The lighter (almost final) version: EDIT 3: Softer fire and hand effect to look more natural... Just for fun... this was done about 4 years ago... when I first got tried a photo manipulation >.< So bad back then. -
I was thinking of getting the product so I could work with animation, but I want to know your thoughts. I prefer to use open source software, but I've tried gimp and Aurora, and really couldn't get a hold of them. I was raised on Photoshop, so that's what my liking goes towards, but again let me know if you have anything (pros/cons for it). If you know of any open source that creates animations/gif that would be awesome as well.

OK... So I just got the entire Adobe CS5 Master Collection and have NO IDEA how to use ANY OF IT!! I know how to create a .pdf but that's it. LMAO Does anyone know of a place where I can find good tutorials (for free) and walk-throughs so I can at least START to understand some of this stuff? I have a feeling that I could have some fun with it. Thanks!! Hugs and kisses, -Doc
