It seems to me that snper riffles are totaly worthless in BO. They are awkward, slow to aim, slow to hold your breath, and rarly 1 hit kill. To top it off, all the maps seem to be designed to promote run and gunning with almost no good spots to snipe from. Has then been anyone elses experience?

Some of you maybe noticed that a patch was applied last day, and it seems that Treyarch is trying to patch Call of Duty black ops consoles PS3 and 360, they have already corrected (for consoles) some exploits that allowed players to take advantage of some bugs in the multiplayer maps. They are still working on the matchmaking, server selection, leaderboards, etc.. you can follow over here: For PC I'll add any new updates to this post

Hey everyone. So I got a chance to try Black ops and I am tweaking my config with help of Tomato's config and others. I am getting a max of 38 FPS after all the tweaks and I started with 30. So overall 8+ FPS gain... Now the question is that to achieve this gain i used 2 commands that may fall under illegal categories. ADMINS PLEASE let me know if this is allowed on our server or is it ban-able ?? Commands are : "r_gfxopt_dynamic_foliage = 0 " instead of 1. ( It basically takes out the far away graphics.... so u see objects as u approach closer to these objects ) similarly, "r_gfxopt_water_simulation = 0" Please look into this since they give a huge FPS boost but may be illegal. I am gonna enter our servers with default setting of 1. Just to be on safe side. Thanks PTRS-41

Same rules from COD4 basically: 1) No Second Change Perk - This is Last stand and the revive option and is not allowed on all our servers. 2) No Bitching, Respect Admin and Players 3) Obvious Hackers = Instant Ban from our servers, VAC ban may follow but not controlled by us Rules subject to change

Me an noxious are seeing who would be interested in making a team for one of these sites. Get FA out there an compete rather than just play for fun all the time. We know there is game battles, but there isnt a lot of action on it yet for black ops.. but there are other sites out there that do them too... usually ladder type ranking systems. i know game battles would be 4 man teams play the match. u can have as many ppl on a team as u want but when a match is set up only 4 ppl can play which is nice since its hard to get everyone at the same time for a match. If any one is interested in doing some competative gaming post your interest here. err........ Im N3RD btw.

I don't think you guys really understand the point of "ranked" servers. The only way ranking works is if everyone is playing the same game - that's why in MW2, they disallowed private servers, because that was the only way they could ensure it. They've opened it back up to private servers, but...you guys are really abusing that. How hard do you think it would be to write something so that they could block a specific perk on your server? That would take Treyarch like...30 seconds. They SPECIFICALLY didn't include it because it's not meant for that. Having pre-teen admins babysit your servers to make sure no one's using second chance is a pretty dumb way around that. Football teams are ranked also - this is possible because they're all playing the same game with the same rules, the rules don't depend on who's field you're on. It's a stupid restriction anyway, because: 1) Anyone using second chance is obviously not very good anyway, so it's not like they're gaining much 2) Anyone dumb enough to shoot someone, and: -A) Not notice the score for killing them didn't flash -B ) Not notice they're still moving -C) Stand there for 10 seconds while the second chancer unloads their whole pistol into them (that's about much it takes) and not know what's going on deserves to be second chance killed. All you're doing is annoying EVERYONE on your server, when there are no admins the impossible-to-enforce (without an admin) rules still flash from Console, and when there ARE admins they constantly repeat and repeat that there's no second chance, and then kick people who mostly don't understand what they're talking about. If there was an admin mod or something from Treyarch that just disallowed it then it'd be whatever, but from playing on your servers, let me tell you, the focus is NOT on the game and letting people play, it's on enforcing that stupid rule on everyone. -
Basically this is the log of the chat and in game kills, it's what's used for the admin mod on cod4. Right now I can only access this file every 60 seconds through a http request. I asked Gameservers for ftp access and this is their response: "[gs] devicenull Posted: Thu Nov 18, 2010 10:21 am Treyarch has told us they do not want us to provide any sort of FTP access to the server. This includes access to the log files, even if they were separate. The delay you speak of on the logs was put in place to prevent exactly what you were trying to accomplish. Our control panel is not designed to support tools making many requests a minute for log files. We may look into other methods of providing access to this file, as it's been a fairly common request, but right now we do not have any ETA or further information as to when (if ever) this will happen." So basically it could come or never come, my program seems to work 75% of the time and the server randomly crashes sometimes, but other people are reporting the same thing so I cannot see the console logs for the reason for the crashes as these are not logged.

Like I said in my last topic, I can not find the =F|A= server in the server list for BO... I tried giving it full access in my firewall but I still can not find it. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Thanks

I was checking out pcdev's (Treyarch's lead pc developer on the game) twitter and found a bunch of things you guys might like to know they are working on. Here you go: New patch really soon /connect coming back We may get WaW zombie maps "Stop" button to stop server list from updating Better fps! Improving RCON. They damn well better. You guys should check his page often too to get word on what they are trying to work on for us PC guys. I think as long as they can keep up the support for BO it can be really successful. -
So I made the switch to windows 7 and reinstalled BOps ...where will I find myself ? or will I have to start over ?

So I keep having this problem where I buy new guns, equip them with attachments, and camo. When I back out the purchase doesn't take - it just reverts the class to whatever it was before I tried to edit it. It keeps my money though. Anyone else have this issue? Is Trayarch aware?

Oki today i was playing with lagg than no lagg than lots off lagg than tottally no lagg but that doesnt matter. this is why i made this topic: I was playing and died respawned and i couldnt do a shit anymore couldnt shoot couldnt walk couldnt prone etc etc so i closed the game and restarted it. could play 5 min normal ( again with lagg than no lagg etc etc) and here we go again the my button dun work anymore woohoo =_= somebody else got this problem too? probally not but anyways btw im getting sick off this lagg not lagg extremly lots off lag so somebody know a solution for this ? i already use config off tomato and another question anyone know how to solve slow map loading ? Wanted to know if there is a way to connect to fa servers using other programs like x fire or gametracker cos your servers dont show up in my server list (at least i cant find them even alphabetical).

I found this great config that should fix a lot of the fps problems people are having. Download it from attachment.. When you start it you will have to fix your resolution/controls/etc. To turn off the FPS and Lagometer use these commands in game: Place it in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops\players config_mp.cfg

OK... I have looked around for performance figures that may be creeping in on black ops, and I am NOT liking what I am hearing. I have seen numerous reports ( one post was 47 PAGES long at the time I looked) of MASSIVE performance issues showing up and making the game almost unplayable. has anyone seen anything like this? Please post your system specs with your answer. Looks like I wont be able to attempt this one until I upgrade my proc.

Alright, so i just finished a game with a loser that had a bot. It was so blatently obvious in the killcams it was ridiculous, his gun would just snap from one spot all the way to another in an instant. He never had one kill that was not a headshot. I wish i recorded it. The question, what can be done to prevent this? Are these servers using punkbuster or just steam? Sorry if thats a stupid question, but cheating/hacking makes me incredibly angry. For what its worth, the guys name is: [sSS]LoopyOwned

I have failed to locate the =F|A= server in black ops... i have looked over and over again and refreshed the server list but i just can't find it.... Help please?

The title says it all. Black Ops has already crashed my PC FOUR TIMES NOW. i bought it off of Steam. I had to do MAJOR DEFRAG by Game Booster (a program that speeds game performance). Every time i come back on it says "Microsoft has recovered from a serious error" What happens is im just going along, playing, and then you'll hear the distinctive noise when ur PC freezes/locks up. And then crashes 2sec later. Extremely pissing me off, and im about to give up on this game, because i dont want to break my nice PC all because this f***ing game.
