  1. Also also, just want to mention that this other account was being used when the server was almost full, and on maps and games that weren't Entrenchment. As I said before, I played for several hours on this server, and this alternate account was in every game I played, and behaved the same way 😕
  2. So listen, I totally understand padding the initial player count on a lobby to attract more players to the server. The game isn't super popular, and especially difficult to find decent matches as a rando. These servers are really fun and super accessible to new players, which is why I always enjoyed playing on these servers. The FA servers were always patient and understanding, and always made a point to appreciate the other players, even and especially if they didn't """carry much weight""" So obviously, DoI is designed around the mindset of teamwork and cooperation. I've played sessions where all the players run off to do their own thing a la CoD, and those are usually the matches that fail quickly. Meanwhile, the games I've played with people who work together in the face of frankly impossoble odds are often the most rewarding. I frankly never really got upset about losing in DoI because that's part of the game. "Aw we tried and failed, let's do better next time." It's vastly different from other mainline FPSs, insofar as nearly every death and every loss tries to teach you to get better at the game. Other than AI sniping me with an ithica behind a wall where they couldn't possibly have seen me, most of your deaths are your fault, and getting better at the game means learning from your mistakes. All this is to say that having an AFK character in a server solely to stand still until a regroup (and possibly long after) sort of...cheapens? the experience? Do I like to win? Yeah, obviously. Everyone does. I enjoy when my fellow players and I win a game together, because we did it TOGETHER. imo, if the only reason our team wins is because someone has another instance of the game running with a (mostly) AFK "player," then it's just boring. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, and/or maybe I'm too much of a purist. I just know that some of my favorite moments in this game weren't always victories. And likewise, some of my favorite victories were won after several failures. Imo, the fun of this game isn't in the winning, but I'm the playing.
  3. Today I decided to play Day of Infamy after a long hiatus - long enough that my esteemed FA membership (started back in 2017-18) was deactivated (understandably). However when I joined an FA lobby today, I noticed there was an AFK player in every single match, which sat still the entire game, never moving to capture an objective or regroup, even if he was the last team member alive. After this AFK player cost us more than a few games, I voted to kick them (as I remember, this was the standard protocol for AFK players) I was met with an immediate - and I mean IMMEDIATE - denial. almost as if the votekick hadn't been submitted in the first place. I then learned through IG text chat that an FA member ("=FA= lou silver") claimed responsibility for this bot, and said it was just there to fill a slot on the match. #1) this is just not true, as this bot was active for my entire nightly playthrough, which consisted of several hours and widely varied number of players. #2) in most other multiplayer games, this might be fine, but - as most of us may know - Day of Infamy does not work like most other multiplayer FPSs -- I had to sit and wait for this AFK bot to be killed by enemy bots before I and several other players could continue with the game. After confronting "=FA= lou silver" about this behavior, and how it was unexpected from a member of the Fearless Assassins, they simply ignored or brushed off my question. I have been seriously considering rejoining the Fearless Assassins recently, since I had a number of good friends back before/during the pandemic; but if this is what is considered acceptable behavior from your staff and other guild members, I'm afraid I just can't accept that. I joined this guild way back when because I wanted to play games with people who were, first and foremost, interested in teamwork, cooperation, and collaborative fun, If Fearless Assassins doesn't care about that anymore, then fine. I'll leave quietly after this post. It's sad to see a community that once cared about having fun with one another reduced to a shadow of its former self. Good luck, Assassins. 4. I was an FA once upon a time (around 2017-18 i think?) before taking a break for personal reasons, but I've been hopping back on the recruiting servers (specifically on Day of Infamy) and mostly everyone is cool and respectful -- sidenote, just today, I had some of the best games I've ever played in this game on this server with a plethora of other players who did extremely well, despite some of their inexperience. Nothing in this post is against Fearless Assassins, y'all have fostered a good community of excellent players -- Every once in a while, though, a player I only know as "WhoIsYou" and "ChinaTown" (can confirm that this is the same player cause I've only muted one person in my entire time playing this game, and it was this same person) After being repeatedly and incredibly rude to newer players on the FA Recruiting Server, as well as insulting any other players they seem to see as "worse" than them, I decided to inform them that this attitude is unacceptable in this space, and while my words may have been rather harsh, this player was exceptionally rude and I have long since removed the FA tag from my steam profile, so this was more of a social correction than anything else. In turn, they have decided that it's appropriate to follow me to any server I go into and teamkill me as much as possible, including the Fearless Assassin server(s). While I wouldn't normally make a post about this, I both met this rude player and have, on multiple occasions, seen them in y(our) servers, and thought it might be good to know that such a player is floating around in the playspace. Not only is it not anyone's fault but that specific player's, but it is also not your collective responsibility to gatekeep or police players who may or may not float into your servers. Again, I simply wish to make the existence of this player known. This is the only player I've encountered in several years of playing this game who was willing to go to such lengths over a simple petty grudge. And since this is a game that only ever has between 20-60 players afaik, I like to think I'm at least a little bit responsible for the health of the community. So uh, yeah. Watch out for that player I guess. They're ruining the game for the rest of us, and that really sucks cause I'd love to get more and more players in the servers. Thanks yall, have a good one!
  5. oops i actually already have insurgency lol downloading now
  6. heyo i was in here a few years ago, and i recently got a new computer and can play Day of Infamy again! I had a lot of fun with yall once upon a time, and i wouldn't mind joinin' yall for some more WWII shenanigans! also, I'm hopin' to get Insurgency here soon, so my scope of games to play will expand. unfortunately, i don't have the best internet right now, but i'm still back! :3
  7. Hey Assassins!

So due to a load of bullshit that I have no control over, I have to move back to Florida.  Basically, my landlord's a **** and is evicting me under false pretenses that I can't fight.

Since I'm in a show right now (Julius Caesar if you're curious) I'm going to be packing and living in an Air BNB until it closes, after which I'll be making the drive back to the East Coast with my entire life in the back of a truck.

Just thought I'd let people on here know cause I'm not going to be able to play that much over the next 2 weeks or so. Once I get settled back in Florida, I'm going to start playing a lot more than I did while I was here.

Thanks everyone, and I'm excited to see y'all in game!

Don't worry dude. People here are pretty understanding. You do your IRL stuff first. I think i can speak for most of us and say no one holds that against you.

  9. HELLO AGAIN!!

  10. Hey guys!  I know I've been strangely absent from the servers and forums.  I've been dealing with a personal decision that has been wracking my brain.  Might be moving back to Florida, might not, but it's been a tough decision, and been feeling like some Single-Player games the past few weeks.  I promise I'll hop back on the servers once I'm feeling more sociable and personable, but I thought it was best for me to take a break for a bit.

I still love you guys and will be excited to play games with you all in the future, no matter what I decide.  I'll still be a Fearless Assassin despite where I live. ❤️

I'm currently in the process of packing and moving (Hopefully just a few blocks) so I would like to keep it alive, but if my inactivity is an issue, I'm fine with reactivating it once I get settled.

Also I've been having issues with my computer running more graphic intensive and/or online games, so I'll have to figure that out as well.

  11. I can finally keep a stable connection while playing Insurgency.  Look out FA I'm swarming your other games!  TF2 is next...

  12. As Sniper: if you're trying to hit a running enemy, don't try to track him. Put your crosshairs a little bit in front of where your target is running, and just take the shot when he catches up with your crosshairs. MG: Hold your breath on the first few shots. Even if you're deployed there's enough recoil to throw off your aim just a bit. Don't forget that you can give players holding the same gun as you extra ammunition by pressing F (or your Use key) next to them. Support class can place ammo bags (press and hold G) that any other player can use regardless of class. Officer: You can call in fire support from the radial comm menu by clicking in the center twice. Doesn't seem like a lot, but it can help. Radioman: You usually have access to the same gun the Officer starts out with. Collab with your officer and use the same gun so you can give each other ammo if you run out and there's no crate/support nearby. 90% of the time: Smoke the enemy's position, not yours. Pressing Y brings up lobby chat, but U will bring up team chat. If you're playing PVP make sure you know the difference (especially since nearby enemies can hear nearby voice chat.) If playing PVP consider smoking a position you are NOT going to throw enemy players off. Bazooka > TNT. You don't have to get close with a bazooka and TNT does not fly very well. I see people try to throw TNT all the time and it just lands by their feet. Officers: 9/10 arty WILL NOT work on destructible objectives. I've seen it work only with a well placed Stuka. Make sure someone has grenades/TNT/Bazooka. ALWAYS RELOAD BEHIND COVER
  13. Just got Insurgency (along with a couple other games) in the Humble Bundle!  Maybe I'll just hang around the FA servers :D

  15. Hey everyone!  So I'm going camping this week before the Summer semester starts, so I won't be able to play at all, and probably won't be able to get on forums.  If ya wanna play with me before next week, now's the time!

    DOI-Discussion Slot amount DOI#1 & 2

Decided to change my vote to 10. Just played on a server with 12 people and we rushed through Crete Stronghold like it was a walk in the park.
  18. Seems like it's not just you, but I couldn't find a fix for it. Sorry. 😓
  19. I'm sure I will!

    DOI-Discussion Slot amount DOI#1 & 2

I say 12 just because 10 might be a bit sparse when the servers are popular? If it still seems like too much I'm not taking a hard stance against 10 slots.
  21. Hi My name is Michael! I go by Bird or Seal on the interwebs but I don't mind if you use my real name here. I'm 21 years old (almost 22) and I'm currently in college for my BFA in Theatre and a concentration on acting. I was originally born in Indiana, US, but moved to Florida when I was young. Now I live in Utah while I'm at college. I found out about FA through Day of Infamy but I also play a fair amount of Team Fortress 2 and a little CS:GO. I wanted to join because it seems like a really nice and friendly community, and I know I'm going to be playing a lot of DoI in the future. I've been hoping to get some more Steam buddies to play other games with as well, so two birds one stone? I'm pretty introverted so I may be reserved at first, but I'll open up eventually. My first shooter was Halo: Combat Evolved and I was involved in the Halo multiplayer scene(if there is such a thing) for quite a few years, going into 2, 3, and 4. I also used to play Call of Duty but found I got too frustrated when I played and didn't find it fun anymore *shrug* Almost immediately after that I picked up Team Fortress 2 and played that for years. Now it seems like I'm moving onto Day of Infamy (although my love for TF2 has not died). Other than that, I actually play a lot of single-player, story-driven games (although if anyone feels like playing Diablo: RoS hmu) like the Middle-Earth: Shadow of... games and Assassin's Creed. Although, I have about 78 games in my Steam library of various shapes and sizes from Civ V to Rogue Legacy and Portal to Terraria.

    DOI-Discussion Favourite DOI Gun

For me, I seem to play with bolt action rifles the best. knowing I only really have one shot makes me aim more carefully, and if I engage in CQC I usually whip out a pistol. However.. Automatic: MP40. Nice rate of fire combined with stopping power. I don't need to unload a lot of shots to put someone down. The Thompson with a foregrip is a close second. Semi-Auto: M1 Garand. Literally just because of the loud ejecting clip. Bolt-Action: Gotta give it to the Enfield. The K98 has nice sights but I always seem to have lots of difficulty if I have to use it at mid-close range. The Springfield is only really good if you have a scope. Pistol: Webley forever. Webley is love. Webley is life. Honorable mention: The PIAT. I've killed so many nazis with that thing.
