Zavion Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 110mph in my Buick Regal GS. Governor kicks in at that point. I did get up to 190-195mph on my CBR 1100XX on a highway going out of Chicago. Hard to really tell the speed you are actually going at that speed as your head is like a ping pong ball in the wind. I got up to 160mph on another occation but that was it. I thought it be best to not tease death like that. Quote
PwRz Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 120 mph or so. huge straight away on highway-and boredom Quote
KevinBacon Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Governor kicked in. You guys can solve this by just clipping your speedometer cable. Use GPS device as speedometer. Lol.. This was in a 2000 Escort ZX2...my little white-trash race car. I've owned two of them so far. Quote
Achiyan Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 i didnt even know an escort could hit that :/ lol thats about when mine kicks in too on my 2000 impala LS. at 105-6 Quote

FIVEO Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 The 3.4 and 3.5 liter V6's in the Impala are limited to 107 because of engine design. The engine cannot physically go faster without going kaboom. I had an 2003 Impala police package and I got up to 116MPH before needing to brake. That much speed on front wheel drive is scary. Quote
Achiyan Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 The 3.4 and 3.5 3.8 liter V6's in the Impala are limited to 107 because of engine design. The engine cannot physically go faster without going kaboom. I had an 2003 Impala police package and I got up to 116MPH before needing to brake. That much speed on front wheel drive is scary. you now stand corrected. Tell that to import tuners. but seriously tho, the 3800 series engine is badass. the 3.4liter tho....i dont know much of those. but the 3.8 has been tuned for years. even the SS Impala '04-'05s are guestimated to be around 140 mph. its kinda sketchy due to the fact that the Base and LS models of the 2000-05 Impalas have a speed limiter which only allows them to reach 105-08. i can now reach 120 in my 2000 Impala LS with my limiter removed. dont know my exact speed since speedo only goes to 120 . but still...the 3800 series engines (3.8 liter) are badass. From Pontiac Gran Prix to Buick Regal to Chevy Camaro/Impala/Monte Carlo...this engine has been around BTW : you said you have the police package...you have the 9C1 engine. that engine is reported to max at 124. i made a post about this a couple of weeks ago before i removed my limiter here. <---Click It! =NU= Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 160 km/h in my 1997 XJ Cherokee Sport with 31" mudterrain tires 4.5" Lift. Almost commited suicide. I had no choice, but to step on the gas on concrete and then taking a path away from highway to run away from some suspicious guys chasing me in an old Ford Lobo. Northern Mexico highways have become a VERY dangerous place. 1 Quote
