Servers

In a discussion with several members we discussed the cost of our servers.  It seems to me that we are a mostly ET clan judging by the number of ET servers we pay for.  If we could reduce some of our ET servers by the ones never or seldom played on then we might afford different ones or atleast lower the costs of our server bill.  Which ET servers do think we could eliminate due to no activity on them.  I havent seen much activity on most of them since ive been a trial.  Then Im sure there are other servers that we could trim to a minimum because of low usage, which of those could we eliminate also.

well we have 3 etpro servers, we normally only use this one:

and since there are a lot of etpro servers out who are rarely visited, i think no-one gonna miss them

Valid reasons, though sometimes cutting costs isn't best solution (and otherwise ofc). 

 

Do we have enough ppl. to reach yearly goal with ease, sure. 

Can you force someone to donate for that cause, ofc not.

 

Also guesing this is not the 1st or last situation like this by the end of the year (maybe 1st for us who discuss it here and now). I dont know lots of stuff about F|A and thats OK, I'm newby here.

But I know there are ppl. who knows every single detail about every single segment of this comunity (if not so, we wouldnt be discussing this in 2017.) and they will do the best thing.

 

All I can do in this situation is to share my thoughts and emotions about my overal F|A experience (someone might find something familiar in it and help us with any dontation if she/he can.

 

I

- enjoy with some ppl I had more chance to comunicate with (trough game, forum and/or discord)

- enjoy playing on ET servers

- enjoy in using and participating on our forums

- enjoy in fact I can lose my self in F|A discord and forget some RL s.it's when I'm there

- respect dedication, given time, energy and money off all curently active and former individuals that putted their brick in building and maintaing F|A skyscraper 

 

Cause all metioned I am and will participate with amount I find ok for me (I see it as something natural to do in my case)

 

Me being here and enjoying ing, forums and discord is more than enough, all I want and need!

Dont need badge, company car or hot secretary cause I donated some money - Im happy here and now in F|A.

I think merging the beginner server 1 with the beginner 2 would be feasible and a very good thing.

This would have a better dynamic during the games.

To see and that the person in charge speaks loudly of this subject which can be very interesting.

its fine as it is now its good to have a back up server sometimes server crashs or are down there are events on those servers and scrimmatches
also its a busy time for people usually during holidays all servers have people in them
+ 1 very important thing F|A servers are also crowded not just by the settings maps or admins but also the choise of varity
also like beg2 a few admins pulled their shoulders under the server and a event was hold there and there is right away server activity

and specially since its a older game it attracts those people still playing and since the ET2 game has released there is a huge amount of new players during the EU time I have a feeling specially with x mas coming we have a chance of gaining much new people and admins and all have a choise what mod they prefer to play in
also some servers are eu located some US that balance is also important 

I dont find this a good idea the way its now is the right balance to attrackt new players from all places in the world and all have a choise to chose their own fav mod because all servers in ET basicly have diffirent settings or is diffirent located that's what makes people coming back to it

In general, we should do an accounting to see the actual monthly costs for each instance. We can then cross-reference that with stats/logs to see how much use each is receiving. We should go through that, and make a list of possible changes. I'd bet we could reshuffle resources and get more servers we need, by getting rid of things that are overpriced or underused.
