Carbonautics Posted December 21, 2016 Share Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Hello, Yesterday i had a file named "PresentationFontCache.exe" which was using almost 30% of my cpu,,, So, anni helped me giving me some commands to run which wil be in the image below. And my problem is that the "Source files could not be downloaded which was supposed to fix the issue, but it didn't. Name PID Description Status Group FontCache3.0.0.0 Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache e.0.0.0 Stopped Mine has a "manual" start type. I found the file location. The SS shows my file-sizes and dates. That 9/26 must have been the major update after installation. It looks like two files were updated or added after that. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.0\WPF Carbo-WPF topic #170103dirCap.JPG I added this so that you could compare file-sizes and dates. Search found no Dat-file as mentioned in Annibal's link. No "font3*", but over 400 with "font" in their name, many in AMD64 and DirectWrite folders. There are two higher-numbered "\v " directories in "NET\Framework64". The last has the same 7/16/16 date as my win10 installation. That folder has many, many "PresentationFramework.*.dll" files in it, but no ".exe" files. This looks like an extremely complex system. I would suggest that you only use tools provided by MicroSoft to try to fix the problem. CaptureZ.PNG I already had that, but I never noticed the "click to permanently have access" when the "you can't access this right now" box popped up! And once you know the path to these files, they're easily findable: different and faster way yet, no matter if unhide option enabled or not.. Copy the path mentioned (%windir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local).. Press Windows key+R.. Paste the path in the search box and click OK.. I hope that the "PC Guy" was able to restore all of your programs, settings and data. I have never "nuked" a system. I had better fix my laptop (HD failure) so that I can do research if this latest Desktop fails. Ahh...I do have my old Win7 SSD that I can plug in and use.
