SiD
So I just started playing Minecraft recently. I always wrote this shit off as a f***ing kids game. All these years I never knew what I was missing! I started a couple days ago with the PS Vita version because I find myself doing the mobile gaming thing. I wanted something I had never played before. Well let's just say that I started at 6pm, checked the clock and it was 4am all of a sudden. It's really addictive. I dig that it does use basic principles of science and has a lot of teaching tools in it as well. Really lovin' survival. Having to work to build things is amazingly fun. Almost threw the system though when I died. Multiple times. Tried creative but I grew bored pretty fast with little to no danger. After being impressed with the pocket edition, I took the plunge and bought the PC version. Before I ever started the game I researched mods (PC Master Race/praise) and came upon Optifine and this cool shader mod. Not sure how many people have tried this but g'damn is she perdy. I manage about 45-55 FPS so it hasn't hit me hard yet. Will wait to see what the rain is like. Anyhow, here's a few screen grabs from my very first footsteps into the PC version. Can't wait to see how dark caverns are! Now if you'll excuse me I gotta go hunker down in a grass bunker for the night while trying to figure out these new damn controls.
SiD
Update on my journey into this insanely addictive game. I started a new world. Wound up pretty close to a village. Lava pit nearby. Horses galore. Also seems to be some sort of desert with a temple or two next to me. I decided that as king of my own world, I need a g'damn castle. And how would I start? By forming a moat. By hand. In survival. Fawwwk sakes. 3+ hours at work to do this. Starting the moat. Must be a couple hundred blocks east to west. Will be more north to south. Yeah this? Where that water looks all dented to shit, I mined every single block out of there in Survival. Took forever. Wasn't happy because the water went all gimp and shit. Took me an hour to figure out how to level water properly, which looks rad now. Gonna level that entire f***ing hill. No joke. Thousands of blocks to take out. Oh and a desert biome with temple. Suh-weet! After a couple hours of running water buckets, I finally got my moat nice and deep. And you can see that I flattened out the water in that one spot. SO after putting a shit ton of hours today into this, I discovered that in the mod set I have, one allows me to switch between creative mode and survival at whim. GUess what You can do in creative? UNLIMITED f***ING SUPPLIES AND THE ABILITY TO FLY. Yeah. I could have saved a lot of time. So I made more progress on my castle/village/whatever it will be. By the way I had already taken out a large chunk of blocks with TNT before I figured this out. Dude. BONUS SHOTS: THis mod set I'm using is FAN-f***ING-TASTIC man. Not only are the shaders good (makes the graphics really sweet for a glorified lego game) but it also has water reflections and fog effects in the rain. Look at this shit!
AcidParadox
whats the name of the mod?
SiD
It's a combo of 3-4 all using 1.8. For optimization, I'm using Optifine. Helps give an FPS boost. Shaders are achieved with the GLSL Shaders Mod, using Sonic Ether Unbelievable Shaders. The version of SEUS I have is the DOF Ultra version. You have to make a few config tweaks to get things going properly like the rainfall, fog and rain reflections. These are both used in conjunction with the Chroma Hills Resource pack. Really cool textures that give the game kind of an old school Fable feel. I have Xaero's Mini Map so I can find my way around a little easier. I also have TooManyItems so I can play with the weather. Really dig the rain settings. PROTIP: Do not use Anti Aliasing. it f***s up the menu and turns it pure white, meaning you can't read shit in game. Leave it off permanently.

GUess what You can do in creative? UNLIMITED f***ING SUPPLIES AND THE ABILITY TO FLY. Just an FYI, whenever you create a new world you can go to more world options before you create it and set cheats on so you can use inline commands. You can then change between creative and survival by typing /gamemode 1 or 0
SiD
Hah great advice! Though the TMI mod I have has it all in the interface. /highfive Lost myself tonight again. Been playing for a bit today. Started up again at 8pm tonight. Now 2am. FFS. Missing time again lol I have progress made though! At this rate it's still going to take me a month to finish this project. THe castle I had planned, turned into a fortress town. But oh ho! The castle is still in the works. Gonna try and make me a castle in the sky. I also might start doing recording of this build. Might be easier to show than so many screenshots. Speaking of which: So here's the fortress 1/4th of the way leveled. Huge pain in the ass. Thanks gawd for TNT! I decided the land mass wasn't big enough. So I extended into the forest beyond and part of the desert biome. That river will be a challenge... Dried up the river! Holy shit. What an endeavor. I did 1/4 by hand, using sand/gravel. Then I found the sponge. Spammed the shit out of them to make an awesome ravine. Fortress Floor almost finished! Sudden realization: There's gonna be a f*** ton of monsters under neath when I decide to do sewer work. G'dammit. With the floor finished, I now need to make a new moat. This took a couple hours itself. No easy way to do it lol Unlimited bucket and practice with cobblestone and I had the water perfectly even. Fortress walls DONE. Every Fortress needs a gate. Now the fun stuff. Building a village/town to populate! Got a few more screens to come. Made some good progress after this.
SiD
Alright so first up is the tavern. Gotta have a place to listen to tunes and get drunk! Yep I got chairs and tables. (furniture mod) And even a few glasses! Had to figure out some other types of decor as well. Three shops finished. Many more to go! Produce shop. Veggies n'shit. I lined a few chests in there with a ton of carrots, potatoes, and other veg types. Y'know the theme thing. Every town's gotta have an armor shop amirite? No rune in stock at the moment. But it does have a loft for the shopkeep. If you're gonna have protection, you gotta have a weapon too. The sword shop! Whole wall is rowed with swords. No rune again. My bank! If there's shop, there needs to be a place to store that money. It's not quite finished. Still a bit of work on the ground and upper floors. But my vault. It sure is perdy lookin'. Had to craft it by hand because perfection.

SiD
Holy shit. Did I seriously type rune? lawl dude. I haven't touched RS in years. Nice brainfart there, Hah. Mini-update: Town is nearly finished, but I gave up. I found the teleport command and have been creating vanilla teleporters to really far ass regions. So now I have a big ass tower in my town with teleporters to all sorts of kick ass locations. One of which I'm building a glass underwater sea-lab contraption. f*** this game and adhd-like tendencies.
