Hiho,

Discussion came up in silent 1 per private message. I am personally of opinion that shuffles are there to fix teams to the best of its capacity (it's xp/KR based depending on mod).

Therefore, if you're unsatisfied with the team you've been put in, there's no harm done in asking an opponent with an equal kr or xp, or someone of whom you know has equal skill, to swap teams with yourself. I have done this in Silent 1 and in Hardcore many times and F|A members that have seen it happen did not object. If I see F|A members that I know haven't seen me do it before I usually notify them beforehand.

In jay1 one F|A member was of opinion that, despite maintaining balanced teams, there are no circumstances in which you can switch teams after an auto-shuffle unless there's an obvious imbalance.

F|A seems to have members with different views of this issue. Perhaps it should be clarified and/or elaborated? Thoughts please  ;)

I'll throw my two cents in here: Generally, a shuffle is an attempt to reset the game, especially if the outcomes are severely slanted one way or the other.  That scenario just isn't fun for most people.

Switching after a shuffle is (ethically) a bit of a no-no.  However, if you're playing with another person or something like that (my wife and I always try to stay on the same side), it's okay to ask for a switch.

I think if your intent is honorable and you keep it on the up-and-up, you'll be fine.  If it creates a mismatch that an admin just tried to fix, however, accept the denial and just have fun fraggin' each other too :D

As I told you in game, switching right after a shuffle is wrong. I'm not sure about switching with some equal skill but xp means nothing.

People that just like to play axis or allies that switch from the opposing team to be on the team they enjoy better is ridiculous. You need to mix things up a bit and stick to the shuffle. I can see someone switching to even teams but there's no reason to switch right after a shuffle. A shuffle is meant to mix up the teams and let people play with others they didn't the game before.

I'll have to agree with Snoopy on this...

Shuffles are used for a reason and wouldn't be very helpful if players can switch back right away...

I also have to agree with snoopy here.

The shuffles are done to avoid stacking a team. So as an admin i do not accept a switch after a shuffle. If i notice that i will send back the player to its original team.

Shuffle are not perfect, and if after a few minutes you see that teams are still uneven, you can switch teams but only from the strongest team to the weakest team, as stacking isn't allowed. Other than that, as they said above, please don't mess with the shuffle and stay in your team. If everyone starts to switch teams right after the shuffle, they make it ineffective.

If XP means nothing, snoopy, then a shuffle means nothing in non-silent mods. It's based on xp.

The discussion is not whether or not one should swap after a shuffle 'because he likes the other team better', because that's simply not allowed and not open for debate. I'm raising the question whether or not a switch is tolerable whenever the switcher asks an opponent to switch with him, considering the teams, its balance and the size to prevent kr imbalance or stack.

If switching doesn't cause for the teams to lose balance, I don't see why anybody would object? If a switch doesn't cause an imbalance, it's generally a step towards further balancing. That's the whole point of asking an opponent to switch teams with you.

I would think in a situation like that, you could ask an admin if they would take some time and see if a equal on the other team could to swap out with you. I would be obliged to help out but wouldn't pressure anyone that didn't want to swap.

Sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone.

This is the best expression of what I was trying to get at.  :D

Aye, this is what I initially stated as well. So problem remains that whether or not you can switch teams with somebody else depends on which F|A member is present to oversee it, which is obviously not ideal. So let's come to the solution part :P

Sl@yer is right IMO.

The solution part is that we are humans that apply common sense at our best.

Each situation we meet is a case by case solution which remains in the hand of the FA admin you are dealing with.

But remember the end goal is always the same .... we wish even teams so we all have fun playing ET.

Gengis is right in my opinion. I know for me switching after a shuffle no matter what ticks me off more then anything, but if it's to help the weaker team by all means go ahead

Well, I guess it just fits my education that I prefer a protocol over human judgement. But I would label this discussion as productive  :)
