MΛXMΛИ Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 All three concepts were presented in Shanghai and so are the Chinese names - Yaao (pride), Miao (Magic) and Xiao (Laughter). All models on the intention of the authors must use electric motors with the possibility of charging a lithium-ion batteries from an ordinary outlet. A single charge should be enough for the 40-kilometer trip (to the office and back with a stop in a shop, restaurant or anywhere else can people go after work). If desired, the driver can pass control to onboard computer that uses GPS-navigation. Pay attention to the dashboard instead of the usual steering column - it can be hidden in the armrest. EN-V The authors argue that the electric car can turn a 10-cent coin, and quite independently bring in the right place its passenger, using the built-in GPS. Quote

AcidParadox Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 it's a great idea but it's really a long way to accomplish this Quote
Livyatan Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I think a bicycle would be a better option. You get a work out and get to wherever you were going at the same time. Quote
OnionKnight Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 So is this going to replace walking in the future so everyone can be a fat ass? Woot way to go. Lard city !! Quote
DuskMatch Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Wow that looks like fun. Great for sightseeing or tourism. Quote
NoGooD Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 So is this going to replace walking in the future so everyone can be a fat ass? Woot way to go. Lard city !! I wonder if future versions will come with a feature to lube up the inside so the lardo owners and enter and exit. Seriously though..I have to wonder about the use of GPS navigation. It seems like you'd need much better GPS technology than we currently have to do things like auto-navigation. I like the idea...but it still looks like a little glass coffin to me. Quote
TwoCrows Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 These things look so crap-tastic I can't believe anyone would be caught dead in one...which just might happen if even a particularly angry squirrel were to attack one. I think you'd have better survival chances on a scooter than in one of these mobile plastic coffins.... Companies have been pushing these kinds of mobile plastic death-traps via concepts for years and they never catch on. The only thing they would be good for is a date-night with no baggage because there is no room. Can't do grocery shopping past a bag or 2, they have anemic power, and are more like that episode of south park where folks sniff their own farts to say they are green than useful. Not to mention a stiff wind would blow these things all over the place. Ever been in some of those long corridors of buildings in manhattan or chicago? Those things create wind-tunnels that accelerate air. Now that I think about it, just the wind resistance from something so terribly bubbly would cut the useful battery life of that thing down pretty badly. Can you see some alcholed up yuppies buzzing these things around in NYC? They would get spite-mugged! Quote
DuskMatch Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I don't see people using these on the streets next to regular autos. They would be more useful as sightseeing vehicles for tourists. For example, if you were to visit a college campus, you could travel around the entire campus on paved roads for pedestrians or bicycles. Or if you were to visit Golden Gate Park in SF. There are a lot of landmarks and getting from one to the next on foot is a pain. I see this more in the same category as a Segway scooter, but with the convenience of being able to sit down, let your passenger sip coffee, and protect you from the sun or rain. 1 Quote

PHANTASM Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Those are cool Maxman! I just showed my family the video. My kids will probably drive one of those cars twenty years from now lol. Kind of look like the Popemobile. They would make nice golfcarts. Quote
