Puni
Hello there, Excuse me if it's not the right section for my topic. I got high cpu usage almost all day for some reason, I've used CCcleaner & my Nod32 scans.. but still high. When I starting chrome I have about 85~100% of usage.. I think that pretty too much. Also on ET, I got around 60% and spikes to 100%. Any idea what can cause it ? Thanks, Puni.
Radoria
Check the processes tab in Task Manager to see what's using your processor. A lot of windows processes can go nuts at times. If it's not clear there, or it's a blanket process for a ton of things, like svchost.exe, which could be anything from networking issues to windows update. Microsoft has free tool called Process Explorer that will let you see inside each process. Be sure ya google whatever it is before ya start killing things though.
Puni
Didn't understand what you saying, sorry. Sometimes chrome takes, sometime a game that I play, and sometimes even Task Manger takes me cpu.
Majestic/
Chrome is a pretty big resource hog, ET uses the CPU a lot. It depends on your CPU. What CPU do you have?
Puni
Well.. Pentium ® Dual Core E5400 @2.70Ghz
Radoria
Here's a link to the program I mentioned. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx And a quick guide on how to use it. http://www.fixedbyvonnie.com/2014/09/use-process-explorer-like-pro/#.VIHmRMlYAX4 Just look at the CPU column. If your cpu use is low before you open chrome, ET, etc. It could be a malware or hardware issue. Click on CPU near the top to sort it by usage and post a screenshot. Also, which version of windows do you have? Edited December 5, 2014 by Radoria

Raskin
doesn't ET always use 100 % cpu? mine always 100% when game on.always has...all other computers I have
Xernicus
doesn't ET always use 100 % cpu? mine always 100% when game on.always has...all other computers I have That would only be if you're running it on single-core computers. Otherwise it can (and sometimes will) take up 100% of one core... so only 25%. For slimming down your Chrome installation, I'd recommend running a program called ADWCleaner. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/Run that as an administrator, and hit the scan button. If it finds anything, just hit the clean button. That will ensure that nothing bad is hogging your processing power and bandwidth. You can also run this to check for bad add-ons: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/ Though it is more complex to use, and I have no experience with it. Ann!b@l
At Xerni's suggestions add this good tool: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/tfc/ This tool will clean all your temp folders which are often the hiding place for malwares or their backup allowing them to load again\to re-install\to come back. About JRT(junkware removal tool), you only have to execute it with admin rights and if possible in safe mode. Once launched it doesn't need interventions anymore. Each possible sector of infections will be scanned, cleaned and at the end, a text file of the result added on your desktop. At part to keep an eye on the cpu usage and to report any new infos\details whom could help to spot the prob, nothing more for now from my side. Maybe mention AV & firewall you use, and if you did not forgotten to turn off Windows Defender+Windows Firewall in case you use your own suite to protect your pc.. Also, set Windows Update service on Manual.
