jer3 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 I don't know any better translation than just simply: I twist an R around a beam and I put the S into my pocket. 2 Quote
Tukkonen Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) A bit different approach than what i had, mine is way stupider "I wrap/wind R around a rafter and put S in the pocket" Edited June 20, 2017 by Tukkonen 1 Quote

A "scar" is often a mark left on skin after an injury or an old injury on a tree or something. An "ace in my pocket" sounds like someone is cheating at cards. (Or did that mean "ace in the hole", which could be a surprise ability or object.) I have been warned about Finnish! 😄 (Or was the translation "too polite"?) I would translate the phrase to; I twist the R around the roost and put the S into my pocket 😄 If you want to confuse yourself about Finnish, try to understand what we mean when we say 'kuusi palaa' 😄 1 Quote

I just noticed that this browser DID translate the quoted Finnish. NOW, I am really confused! 😖 OMG! "six pieces" was translated by Google into "kuusi kappaletta", which back-translated into "six songs"! 😮 14 hours ago, Ashuyai said: If you want to confuse yourself about Finnish, try to understand what we mean when we say 'kuusi palaa' 😄 I am now officially "confused". (At least "confused" translates to "sekava", which back-translates to "confused". Reality is Restored! 😄 ) ACK I just noticed that the 'Translate to English' rendered @Api888's ET Member" to "AND Member"! Is that Finnish????? Edited February 23 by RedBaird ACK! 1 Quote

It is but it's a less used way to say 'and', common for 'and' would be 'ja' 😄 3 5 Quote

Different kind of wordings for the word "dog", for example: my dog, your dog, his dog, their dog, our dog etc. You name it. I dont even know all of those 5 3 Quote

I need more that one reaction-icon for your post: I did "surprised" but also needed Laugh and Cry! I am feeling a surprisingly complex medley of emotions right now! 😲 😢 😄 😸 Where did that cat come from? 🐕 🙃 It seems like I am more likely to learn how to learn to sing than to learn to speak or even read Finnish! My 🎩 is off to all of you who are fluent! 3 Quote
