EVIL BUTTERS Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Hi guys and girls. I'm having a huge problem with my cable speed. I pay for 100 megs up 110$ a month. The last 2 weeks I'm pulling 12 megs up and down to 9 megs. I have had 3 techs come out and change the modem 3 different times, of course never fixed the problem. I have called and talked to the shitheads countless times all they want to do is send out another tech. I have had no problem pulling 90 to 100 for 10 months with them. Now this problem for the couple weeks. The Tech says the line speed is perfect, changed ethernet cables changed new modems. They said they cant fix it. The techs say its Charters service with the lines. But they said the line speed if perfect from the pole to the modem. My computer is fine never had the problem with taking the megs LOL. Tried it with my kids puters same problem. What the Fluck are they trying to screw me with? So tomorrow they are having a line guy come out to check? Are they bullcrapping me? What do I say when this tech comes? I'm Pissed I cant play with 12 megs with 3 kids on the same router.....LOL......And yes all this is done without the router all hardwired? If anyone can help me I would really be happy. Thanks for listening to my rant ......Just really pissed I cant play like I should nor be on ts grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Peace your lovely poo poo head BUTTERS!!!!!!!!!!! 1 Quote
Vanaraud Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections what does this tell to you? If it show 10\100mbit\s then it could your PC(s), network adapter changed or failed. If it shows 1gb connection then your network adapter should be ok. Do you have new modem and also router? Is it WiFi router? Maybe its set to not to wifi n standard but g or even lower? n standard should get you 300mb\s or even higher which should be enough. But the thing is the 100mb\s is divided then it could give you 100\5PC=20mb\s or someone is stealing from your wifi and brings connection down. If some1 is stealing then reset your router connection and get new password, also some1 maybe turned on new Wifi router and interfering with yours? Check channels? I´m not expert on networking but things I´d check. I wonder if ISP checked if its set in their server for 100mb\s, maybe they made some maintenance and it defaulted to 12mbit\s? Quote

Yes Van everything is ok with my adapter. Hardwired same problem tih all 4 of my puters. He was out here again today. New router still only pulling 10 megs when I was pulling 90 to 100 megs weeks back. THe tech says there is a line problem but they keep sending the same tech back to my house. Now after today they said they will look into the "service area" I'm getiing screwed with the politics of this company. My only option is to go to att shit up to 45 megs they say. What should I do? I can only call Charter so many times!!!!!!!!and the same crap. Any one have any suggestions? Butters is pissed!!!!!!!!!!!! Also Van they reset it to 60 mgs and 30 megs and still could not bring it passed 15 megs. Thanks dude! Quote
Kepar Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Have you checked your internet speed with: http://www.speedtest.net/? If not do it and post your results like this: At the end press "Share your result" and choose Image link. Quote

Kepar Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 http://www.speedtest.net/result/3753336905.png wow they are really screwing with you. Paying 100$ for 15-20Mb/s. Are you sure that maybe someone haven't messed around with your router settings? Quote
Vanaraud Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Anybody cut the wire while roadworks and they don´t know or don´t want to deal with it? And now it has only minimal throughput? Also if ISP has reset the connection then I´m out of ideas. EDIT: you could still see what WinMTR shows... Quote
Mortemex Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I have charter as well. The way they do it is that your plan is about to run out, so they are trying to get you to sign another contract to get the real data you are paying for. Also heres the thing about charter, its technically a Satalite Internet Provider (atleast in my area). The best bet to make sure that its not your PC causing the issue it boot the computer in savemode and run an winMTR test to one of there servers (Theres a few posted on speedtest or there was) and see what happens. Also if you have a wireless router hooked up to your modem see if that resolves the issue by just unpluging it temporarly Lately my ping to NJ has been from 78 to 168 depending on the time of day and charter is in the middle of updating to Digital Components. If you call in request to have a ticket sent to an engineer or have your ISP move the server location you are on Quote
EVIL BUTTERS Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Thanks for the help we will see when the line guys come tomorrow, they are going to have a ear full Butters way after a couple beers!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Leader RedBaird Posted September 12, 2014 Leader Posted September 12, 2014 I had DSL troubles one time and the TelCo sent out a second tech, with the equipment to detect the problem 300m back up the line. I don't know if his device detected it directly or if he had to climb several poles to home in on it. The owners of an early transatlantic telegraph line did not believe their scientists when they said that they could calculate the locations of line-breaks thousands of miles out to sea, based on electrical measurements from land. 1 Quote
EVIL BUTTERS Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 http://www.speedtest.net/result/3757694283.png Much better now lol. Only took 2 weeks for the idiots to figure it out on the nodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Like we told them..... 1 Quote
LeftWingVixen Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I think Butters uses lots of exclamation points because he's old and can't hear - even through threads. 2 Quote

Mortemex Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 My issue is on about 3 nodes... but then I get a lot of packet loss in NY Quote
