Is it possible to practice with omnibots?

Sorry for being an asking parrot.

So yeah , I was wondering if I could play offline with bots in my own computer?

I have been researching and I just don't understand anything, tried a tutorial posted here and it got me more confused.

If there was a tutorial that was like "do this and do that and done" I would be very grateful.

well if u want there is a server NQ#2 i mean most of the time its just bots so u can play on that....

with some mods it's much easier Bobots, Fritzbot, etc. Omnibot can be run as a mod if I remember correctly.

 

but if you want omnibots with a specific mod you need to make a server (with a config and all), then run the game separately and connect to that server

 

Which mod would you like to play? You just want to spend some time playing ET or train (well... training with omnibots... meh) or what? If you don't care about the mod just install something like fritzbot or similar (it's very old, I know, so it's closer to stock ET)

 

or else you need to make a real server. even if it's in your pc it doesn't matter, you still need to make a config for the server etc.

if u want to practice and train i would suggest u to play with players not Bots that will help u alot and spec some player who play good so u can learn from them try moving alot with and keep your aim towards head alot and dont move your mouse much it will disturb your aim....

I know that, it's just that I just wanted to have mindless fun shooting hordes and hordes of bots.

first of all you have to make a dedicated server (but not online, with dedicated I mean you need to run etded and not et) without omnibots and the mod you like (as long as it supports bots, etpro doesn't for example)

 

once it's up and working, install omnibot and set the appropriate variables in the server config but first make sure you can set up a server without omnibots, that's the first step

Been a few years since I messed with it but I think all I did was install Omnibot and start the server. Then in game type /bot addbot or something like that and they will fill he teams with as many times as you type that command. I always wanted to do this but be able to turn off damage to the bots and myself and only make headshots count. I never got anywhere so I just gave up.

You don't need to do that, you can run an et server local host with Omnibots. Simple stuff! Just google server configs for ET, takes a lot of tinkering. Would be happy to share mine with you.

make sure you have all the correct mods installed and then just /exec server.cfg

 

Be sure to message me if you want the .cfg files I can send them to you!

You don't need to do that, you can run an et server local host with Omnibots.

I'm not sure if we were talking about the same thing, I said dedicated server (meaning etded instead of et) I didn't say you have to run it on a different ip than your own pc.

 

but if you mean using only ET.exe, I would say that without separate server-client some things run differently, and the game physics could be different because ET servers are not meant to be run like that.

 

Probably the OP doesn't care about this, or the fact that bots have different hit detection so training against them makes no sense.

 

If he wants to just have fun he can even run omnibots mod instead of other mod+omnibots

Hey guys , sorry for the late reply.

I tried BOBOTS and itwas really easy to set up and i finaly had the chance to play a game againts hordes of bots.
