I would love to play on that server just to see what those maps look like.  You let me know.

Maybe we can get ten guys to play.  My old clan  had a modded server we used just for clan

games on Friday nights.  We would use vent and teams and we had a ball.

Maybe we can run this by the bosses as a one time thing to get a response.

not a lot changes in call of duty other than maps. As someone said before, they would probably just respond to the letter telling you to try some of the newer installments.

i would think it'd be cool to get a map making team together for COD4 and make some really decent maps just it'd had to be different then what other modded servers have to make it awesome  B)

theres programs and software you can get which can make it very easy lol they are called map editors or map creators you just have to get the ones for COD4.

i use to make custom maps for COD1 and COD2 using those programs so there might be or probably will be some for COD4 now

You guys are making me miss my old mac game of Marathon. Marathon was created by Bungie. Yes - the same people who made Halo. Bungie started as a game developer for the Macintosh. In the last version of the Marathon game, Bungie released a Map editor called "Forge". It was a complicated program, and it had it's fair share of bugs, but all in all it was awesome, in that it let those who wanted to, make custom maps. I got a pretty good reputation around the office for creating the most fun maps. Anyway, sorry for the walk down memory lane. I just wanted to say that in the past there were companies that not only allowed custom maps, but that actually encouraged it and made it easy for its users to do so. (This of course was when Bungie was independent, and before they got bought out by Microsoft.)

Smoke, I too doubt that any developer would consider making more maps for COD4. I think if we want that, we're going to have to figure out how to do it on our own. Perhaps a new thread for those that are interested? I wonder if this is something the average user can do, or if you have to be a programer genius!? :) Interesting thread, neat to see where this is going.

edit: well it appears there is a map editor but it's only for the PC. That leaves me out. Sigh. :)

I used to play Halo heavily with my old clan and still play it once in a while. I also modded maps for Halo and had tons of fun. I think I have used forge before and it is a bit complicated, but it was fun. It takes a lot of work though to make a modded map and get the kinks out. Then there is the part of getting everyone to dl it. I know with Halo, you had to copy the original map to mod it, but make sure you named it differently and the like. Or else you are stuck with the modded map.

If you used the software before, do you think decent maps could be made for cod4?

decent maps could be made for sure, It's all in learning how the program works.

Just throwing this out there EMT, if you need someone to help with any sort of graphics or texture editing, let me know.
Good luck! Keep us posted. :)

I'm also willing to help out in any way possible EMT, so make sure to tell me if you need any help! Even if it's as simple as coming up with the base design for the map, count me in.
