ET vs COD4

*****LONG RAMBLING INTRO*****

 

Many of you old xfire users may remember when ET was ranked in the top 10 games played on xfire. It has been pushed down to an embarassing #15 thanks to new games such as COD4.

 

COD4 may be the biggest game out now, but ET has something special that many FPS games don't have.

 

Planting a bomb or eliminating the opposing team on a square map can become boring and feel very repititive and most FPS games utilize this.

 

However, many ET maps, such as supply depot for example, has a progressive style gameplay.

 

You escort a truck while the other team camps in the bunker and tries to stop you. After clearing most of the enemies, you blow the first gate in order to keep the truck moving.

 

The enemy then camps along the open fields, command post, and bunker as you then either try to construct the command post or destroy the final gate.

 

After blowing the final gate and moving the truck the crane, the gameplay shifts mainly towards indoor firefights as your team's engineers attempt to construct the crane.... and so on.

 

This progressive style allows various types of strategies to be used when playing each "new" part of the map and is one of the main reasons i still play the game.

thx for watching. not long lol. most people participate well, so a couple minutes to get fully built. and then some ass comes and breaks the chair on the bottom as usual.

by moviepack do you mean mod? if so i used etpro even though i was playing etpub server. The longest part was looking for good scenes to use. Took me a couple of days for the whole thing but I wasn't working the whole day. So i'd say about couple hours for just the editing if i really focused on it

as i play cod4 and ET (et more) i can say they are the best FPS out there but still ET have special plus for me personally, after i tried a lot of games never find the same game play that i really appreciate in ET and still can't explain every time tried to!!!!!!!

 

little example sprint and shoot, the way you hit and get hit it's seems have some kind of feelings i never find it anywhere else, playing the same maps for years without being bored, even playing the same 1 map for hours and wants to play it again... wow.

 

I love playing fps, in ET 10 seconds after join start shooting and kill or get kill... the reason for that, and i find it in cod4, maps are very close combat you don't waste your time looking for opponent cuz hate big big maps, I don't like spend my time driving cars or anything else for look for a target, I wanna start a game and go do objective or fight without doing too much steps to do that... and... and... too much "and" that make it ET for me a very special FPS

yeh i know what you mean. I think for me its dodging bullets and getting dinks at the same time that gives me sorta a adren rush.

I didn't really mean vote to bring back in the top 10 list. I doubt that will happen. I was actually being kinda selfish and trying to get "cool" votes for my video here:

It's just that it's mainly cod4 videos that are in the top rankings and get most views since its the newest game and some people have never even heard of ET.

ET has that feeling of chaos with frantic offense and defense, dynamite ticking on final objective, as the last minute ticks off the total map time... Haven't played COD so I can't tell, but I don't think COD has that spirit of ET.
