Brackeva Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Hey guy's i recently chanced my croshair in options and someting terrebly went wrong. At the moment when i play it seems like i can't make a hit or a kil any more i just keep going into the losing spree's, is it just me playing that bad or is it someting you can change? If anybody had those same problems before or solutions to fix the problem, il be trilled to hear them and thank you for your help. Greetings Brackeva Quote
Owned Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 just some quick tips. 1: make your crosshair stick out color wise, use red or cyan, whatever you prefer. 2: dont set the crosshair too small, i had the issue with the small dot on my screen being about 1 pixel and nearly invisible when in a fight, so i had to size it up. Clan Friend SunLight Posted September 15, 2013 Clan Friend Posted September 15, 2013 make sure you didn't move it (cg_crosshairx and cg_crosshairy must be 0, cg_letterbox 0, it moves your aim as well) and that you didn't disable antilag by mistake. Quote

I completely agree with this post. The only thing I can add is the fact, that when I chaged my crosshair to the small point I had to play with mouse sensitivity too in order to find the best combination, which allows to avoid a lot of useless moves. PokingSmot Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Depending on how you like to aim, you could enable mouse acceleration. I use the windows one that says "enhance pointer precision". Without it I find if I want to be able to move my head fast, I have to sacrifice aim for it. With the mouse acceleration you can have pinpoint accuracy but also be able to turn around quickly. They offer an "in-game" one too if you want to tweak it to a more desirable setting. the cvar is /cl_mouseaccel (default 0). I would recommend trying it if you're having trouble finding the right sensitivity (ie. find that your turn ability vs. accuracy isn't balanced). Quote

I think for games like ET where you mostly need consistent tracking mouse accel makes your life harder. Besides the distances you have to move your mouse you also have to train the velocity, that makes it harder to develop muscle memory. Of course you can get used to it, but it's probably easier just upping the overall sensitivity a bit if you can't turn fast enough. Personal preference, but for ET accel is not really beneficial imo. 3 Quote

TBH I didn't realize that the windows "enhance pointer precision" was in fact mouse acceleration, so when I tried with it off I found my movements excessively slow for the amount of precision I was getting. With sensitivity at my native 2.2 I couldn't "snap" to targets as i used to. I then tried upping the sens to double that (4.4) but the increased quick aiming reduced my precision greatly. It is a matter of choice, but it does add benefit in the long term. I'm not sure what people mean by "harder to train muscle movement" It's just something you just have to get used to like any increase or decrease in sens, it takes a couple days to get the hang of it. AbsoluteZer0 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I've been playing all these years with pure default... I think if I modified my settings now I would likely be in a scenario with a contextual advantage to wearing brown pants. Quote
