way back when i used to play rtcw i was invited into a clan called "xx" you probably still see some of them on silent servers. we were a nice group of friends who like to mess around. then et came and we all decided to move on to that, and that was probably best time in et for me. ofc things dont last forever and 90% of xx went inactive or just simply left the game

You are the second person (maybe third cause im not sure about the thrid one) I met that started playing rtcw.

I remember first playing ET on the omnibot mod, since I didn't have an internet connection on my pc at that time.. I named all the bots from LOTR and it was pretty fun, it sucked that I could only play oasis, railgun and battery though :/

 

My first server was Schokoheaven but that didn't last long since I kept getting kicked for TK's So I found a server called Weedheaven which was fun and played there til last year. Made some friends there and started Panini* clan with a few people. It grew and we had some good times. We opened our first server last year also called Panini* Playground to see what it was like but that didn't work so well so we didn't pay any more. I remember also around that time Panini* was top 10 on Splatterladder

 

Also I remember joining vent first time with Bell and LadyKris. That was fun and I miss it!

To make a server work, you need to almost stop your life and almost stay in the server during all your free time, and ask your friends to do the same. With time, beginers that dont like to face 40 or more players, start coming too. You shouldnt give up. Who knows? maybe today your server would be a good one. But you ended here, what is a good thing too and, lets be honest, just play is so much better than all the work to make and keep a server on.

 

Btw, i dont see people on vent but you all have nice stories of it. You all stoped going there?

Memorable moments? hmm, I will try to keep the list short

 

- I remember when I installed ET in 2003, because I had played RTCW single player, and then uninstalled it because I couldn't play it online, and there were no mods with bots

- I vaguely remember a server where I used to play when I installed it again, it was fueldump 24/7, jaymod, the motd said 'no pro players, no clan players, no trickjump'

- Many good memories are related to trickjumping... the 1st time I managed to jump over fuel dump roof, and before that oasis walljump, and the 3rd jump in mrmen gamma (which back then I though it was pro xd), the 1st time I managed to finish 999gamma, while before I couldn't even reach the 1st platform, and I watched in awe those who could.

- teaching gammajumping to players who were nuber than me, when the real pros refused to teach them

 

- The 1st ettv match I ever watched (Aus vs Ita I think), and I wondered how they could move so fast, why they selfkilled together, etc. lol

I even learned how to put the mine inside west radar by speccing Xylos that day (and his was the 1st fragmovie I watched as well)

- When I played the 1st 3on3, and all those matches lost and won vs lowskills and/or fakers (mostly lost ^^)

- Trying to figure out rifle trickshots in goldrush and stuff with my clan mates, learning how to go inside walls and other trickjumping and gammajumping stuff from some pro trickjumpers (I remember Just-Me, Thunder, Term, and others)

 

- Some random memorable frags of players much much better than me (3 lotto hs to Butchji at cybergames pub, lucky me ^^)

- I still remember a frag when I jumped, and while in the air I did 2 hs with garand to a medic who was far away

- A 7 man airstrike on an etpro server which now is dead, at the time it was always packed with players (otherwise I woudn't have been able to kill 7 at once )

 

- I remember when I switched to jaymod at the end of 2009, because I had a skilldrop and I was bored, and never went back to etpro servers again, kept skilldropping, but still having fun ^^

- Remember when, after playing in other jaymod servers, I started to play in FA servers (it was like, 'wtf, what is that american server full of euros with 200 ping ? and 2.55 too? and always full?'

But after I joined, I was amazed at the number of vsays, and I found it was very fun to play, despite the fact that it was the opposite of the servers where I normally played back then

- A couple of epic whines from players better than me (usually raters), whose names I won't mention (one of them after I repeatedly killed him called me 'nub jaymod player', when actually I had stopped etpro when he had started it, priceless ^^)

When i could play etpro more than 5 hours with Sfin,Boris(Saizou),CSL,Hobbit,Jose and A|G... good times.

And ofc eow times.. first server that i started playing.

I played on eow server, in 2009 (i think). I was really bad. And it was on baserace. Snake tried to kill me in the tunnel (middle of map). He followed me close, but not enough for kill me. And I decided to throw grenade on the ground. He has not seen the grenade and BOUM! I was happy because it was a big ennemy for me at this time lol. I'm sure he kille me before and after that... lol.

Man....where to start?

 

ET was my first online game. I had my own apartment by then, and had bought a decent computer with my brother-in-laws credit. Didn't have any experience with gaming, so I neglected to buy a graphics card...the P4 2.6 HT wasn't known for outstanding integrated graphics. I played on a few random servers, as a real nub, then found the drunkensoldiers server. I liked the name, so I kept coming back. I remember playing this one map, real wild, like a gigantic skyscraper with slides from the top to the bottom, like 1000 feet high. Had to get gold from the top to the bottom. I found a nice camping spot and killed <DS>Twizler like 4 times in a row (after he had spent 3 or 4 minutes climbing stairs first lol). **edit Tower and Slider, CTF ** I applied, and eventually joined <DS>. They got my feet wet in competition in TWL (campaign ladder!).

 

The crew at Primer's BSD showed me the other side of competitive ET...SW. Never forget the day I finally understood what all the fuss was about stopwatch

 

Being selected as the "noob" to be adopted by The Commission. Got to hang out with and spec/ring with some alpha league people...Three B's, Shaky...

 

Having dT's Seed go through a TWL admin to track me down and give the config that he had after word got to him I liked his spawntimer (class act that guy, cuz I was nobody special, just beta trash)

 

watching my first ETTV match back when ETTV first came out...watching TWL Alpha league finals live

 

Reinstalling ET after a hiatus of 5 years and discovering a vibrant community of awesome people still playing the best FPS ever made <3 FA

I've played ET for many years off and on, alot of different servers but my favorite moment was joining FA Jaymod 2 and every moment since then.

Hmmm let's see

 

The most memorable are definitely my team's first ever TWL Alpha and CAL matches against united 5 (2005) that had just placed #2 at QuakeCon barely losing in the finals to check 6. We got steam rolled both games as we were new to competition However, playing 1 of the best teams in the world was definitely a lesson that we needed in order to get better.

 

Then i would have to mention the last season of TWL #10 (2007) where we rolled through Warped Sanity and Gameface (champs for the past 3 seasons in a row) and had to face team Excel in the finals where we barely lost 1 map and then the game. http://challenge-tv.com/demos/view/33856

Oh, I'd also mention STA season #10 where we beat SNL thanks to them forgetting to call Night, urtier and senji, thus playing us with an all american lineup and losing < we also won that STA season beating sandals after that in a very boring and one sided game.

I could also mention smurfing in many Nations cup matches for both team USA and Canada. Those were always fun with decent players playing.

Other random moments might be a lot of scrims where we managed to win against top teams but then fail hard during matches against the same teams.

 

I almost forgot one of our season 1 or 2 matches in competition where we had to play team Unfaithful and they were supposed to beat us easily and even spawn camp us (according to the predictions)
