ajnl Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Similar to SOPA and Protect IP but worse. This one is taking place in Europe: https://www.accessnow.org/page/s/just-say-no-to-acta Quote
darkfang77 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Calling copyright for the ACTA Downfall parody! Hope this one fails like PIPA/SOPA... 1 Quote
Moron4 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I was protesting against ACTA yesterday, here in Brussels. Only the info on that site is a bit wrong, it was signed yesterday in Japan and pretty much every Eu country signed it (exclusions of Germany, Finland,Estonia and Slovenia I think. The Netherlands didn't sign it because the approval came to late for the ambassador.) Anyway I hope it fails like Sopa (wasn't pipa still in act?) Quote
Glyphz Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 SOPA/PIPA was postponed that doesnt mean it failed. Quote
Chuckun Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 ACTA is far worse. A pretty good explanation of it: Avaaz's petition against it: http://www.avaaz.org/en/eu_save_the_internet/?cl=1540384795&v=12293 Quote
Strobel Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I can definitely agree with Chuckun here. SOPA/PIPA is nothing compared to ACTA! But nowadays it looks something like this: Back when Egypt and other states were censoring or disabling the internet to suppress critical voices and news the western hemisphere complained a lot. On the other side censoring or nearly disabling the internet for protection of intellectual property it's more than just fine for the same people? Hell NO! Europe gotta fight against ACTA like the US had fought against SOPA/PIPA or we're gonna be screwed! Only the info on that site is a bit wrong, it was signed yesterday in Japan and pretty much every Eu country signed it (exclusions of Germany, Finland,Estonia and Slovenia I think. The Netherlands didn't sign it because the approval came to late for the ambassador.) Actually I can't believe that Germany didn't signed it, there's one of our politicians who already tried to gain as much possible informations of us over the internet. Looks like he was on vacation the time this was discusses in our parliament. Quote

Also I said ACTA was signed in secret, which pretty much means that Germany and the others could have signed, but we haven't found out about it :s. Too bad my source is a bit unreliable, but whats for sure is that it's already signed by halve the world. What did I say, halve the world? naah just some guys who make those decisions -.- The world hating on China for censoring internet and see now what they do... Quote
Chuckun Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Well, RT is fairly unbiased and reliable. http://rt.com/search/?q=ACTA Quote
darkfang77 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 WOAH WOAH WOAH Chuck! From that YouTube video: What you're saying is (in a irl analogy)- If I watch some porn, and I learn a new sex position/technique and use it against my hypothetical girlfriend, I'm actually breaking the law? 1 Quote

Deathshead Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I hate this thing. The Romanian government signed ACTA too.Soon we won't be able to do anything on the internet Quote
Moron4 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 As I recall, through other fora, Belgium, Poland and Romania have already protested against ACTA. And @darkfang if someone claims to have invented a certain sexposition (and gets it on a patent), it would pretty much end the porn industry :'( Also if you've done anything wrong, like uploading something from megaupload, they're allowed to follow you on the computer (under surveillance as they call it), so every time you want to watch pornn they will know... Getting scared of watching now? Quote
darkfang77 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 If you ever have sex, yes, that would be illegal. What do you mean, "if", lol? And @darkfang if someone claims to have invented a certain sexposition (and gets it on a patent), it would pretty much end the porn industry :'( Getting scared of watching now? Well the Karma Sutra predates all this t-bar, piledriver, lotus, cowboy/girl rubbish. So... If this passes, I'm copyrighting every fact in my head. Even big bad, partiamentary voters have needs you know? They won't destroy... my precious... precious... Quote
