ET Member Popular Post RNGesus Posted March 13 ET Member Popular Post Posted March 13 I’ve been considering putting together a coding class centered around Enemy Territory to help people learn programming in a practical, game related way. The idea would be to have small learning activities during the week, with a larger instructional post each weekend that ties everything together. The course would begin with Lua fundamentals and syntax, then progress into writing your own Lua scripts, understanding and applying documentation, and learning debugging techniques. Once the basics of programming concepts and syntax are solid, the class would eventually move into C++, showing how those same principles apply at a deeper level. Before I put in the time to fully build and structure this, I wanted to see if there would be interest from the community in participating. 7 6 4 Quote
80sDUDE Posted March 13 Posted March 13 That's awesome, man! I'd love to, but I don't know anything about programming and it would be even harder for me to learn in a language that isn't my native tongue. But the idea is really cool! GG 1 1 Quote
lp24db Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Sounds great. I have only coding experience in buisiness contexts. I never did game coding. I would love it (in case my skills are sufficient) 1 Quote
ET Member RNGesus Posted March 14 Author ET Member Posted March 14 Based on interest I will put this together this week and begin on 3/23/26 and use this same topic. 1 1 Quote

knw Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Can you record this? I'd love to watch them. I used to know a passable amount of Java, C, and MATLAB. I'd love to get back into it. 1 1 Quote

knw Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Sorry @RNGesus, misunderstood the posts thing. For some reason my brain thought of TA office hours or something IDK! Looking forward to it though. Thanks man! Quote
LazyHippo Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Very interesting inititive, count me in, would like to remember my old systems engineer classes 😄 Have some knowledge in C++ but would have to dust it off Hope to go live to be part of but if it could be recorded as well would be great! 1 Quote
