Yeah, I've been here a long time, but I want to get some things off my chest, and this looks like the spot. KNOWING that few will care and it will probably get a lot of negative responses. That's OK, I'm used to it. My history here has been rocky at times, so I take the blame for some of it.

Actually, this profile has been around for almost 12 years. I had an earlier profile that I lost the login info for, which only had a few posts, and even then, I think it was 2-3 years before I ever posted on the forums.

Altogether, I'd say it's been about 15 years since I started playing on FA servers. Man, that's crazy! From my mid-40s to my early 60s!!!

At first, it was because I mostly played ETPro, but those were Euro servers that were dead at night in the US, while FA was active, and I had friends who played here.

For most of that time, I've been a consistent donor, not just as a VIP, which IS a form of donating that gets you a few perks, like access to a VIP forum that few use, a few commands that don't affect gameplay, and an announcement.

I try to donate outside of that when I can, but raising two daughters on my own for the last 5 years has been difficult, financially. And, I've been a steady part of the forums for years now.

The fact is, to ME, the FA servers I play on, Jay 1 mostly and Jay 2 when it was active, feel like home. Full of people I recognize and am used to seeing. Probably, this will get a lot of "if you don't like it here....." responses, but like I said, this has been my home for 15 years.

But, as I said, I want to get some things off my chest.

First, and I just deal with it, I have rarely felt welcome here. People don't acknowledge when I join the server. I'm treated like I'm a sh*t player, even though I always have a positive KDA. "Nice shot", never happens when I get a kill. Ever. Suggestions, I don't think I ever made a suggestion that was taken seriously.

Speaking of play, my game style is what I call a purist. I typically only use default MG and grenades, and on some maps, I like sniping.

I go to knife if I can get a hit while I'm low points, but not often. And yes, because of that way of playing, I do get very frustrated by the spam and easy one-shot, one-kill weapons. I'm SORRY! I still try to get better at this game, even though age is having an effect on that. So I get frustrated. I'm not the only one, but I AM the only one who get's "scolded" for saying anything. Trust me, I pay attention. And, I admit, I get frustrated when I'm just not playing well. Typically, I play medic. I try to get everyone I see who needs revived, often getting myself killed in the process, or just needs med packs, I'll divert to get them healed. I mean, I try to play the class the way it should be played, but OMG, the grief I get if I miss someone. I mean for real!

I just can't bring myself to run around with something that gives easy kills, JUST to get kills. I feel like I should be earning those kills with game sense and whatever skill I have left.

I still have a few players who troll me constantly. One, every time he sees me has to make a smart comment because ONE time, I was crouching in a corner while I was talking to my kid and got accused of "hiding", as if hiding is a bad thing, whatever, shouldn't be a big deal, but every day, he has something to say about it. And has much lower scores than I do on every map. It's mind-boggling.

Saying anything leads to either ME being shut down or just nothing happening, so I deal with it until it gets so aggravating that I say something back, and then I'm the one who gets my hand slapped smh but mostly, I typically just stay quiet when I play.

Some, not just the one whom I know, will think I mean him, admins are quick to jump my ass for saying anything. It happened last night. Nope, not gonna give details. It's just a normal thing.

Partly, I wanted to point out how I play and acknowledge that I still try to be as active a supporter and part of the FA community as I can be.

So, sorry if the time it took to read this wasted your time.

Have a good day!

We are all "one of a kind", except for the lame-ass Trolls and dead-ass Cheaters who are the two types of players that I put in 'special boxes' to laugh at.  😄

I am not a good enough ET player to ever be a "purist", so I just die while trying to help with the objective, quite often as a "suicide engie".

Hipkat, you are part of the Culture of Jay#1 Recruiting and the server would not be the same without you!

I hereby give you permission to laugh at Me, just as I quietly laugh at others in my mind.  I think of trolls like most grandfathers would at little grandkids pulling his beard.  "Little Scamps!".  😄

Dont let them get to you man 😅 I like the playstyle and attitude and recognize the frustrations, yet loosen up!

Lots of players wont see you entering or greet, wont recognize a great shot against them (well atleast...i dont even notice quad HS's when im on the receiving end..sorry guys, V56), wont verbally acknowledge the countless revives..or they are fed up themselves by being arti'd into a mortar coming out of spawn 3 times in a row. My bet would be lots of players will feel just like you, even those players that people deem 'naabs that dont do anything but wasting artillery'. Just focus on YOU having fun, feeling (and knowing) that YOU are helping the team and the atmosphere..they are not going to write you a Google review unsollicited, but they wíll see and every now and then you will get the acknowledgements, just like you hand those out yourself, sporadically.

I mean, what to expect when most players on server are like this ⬇️ or is that just me?

Hi Hipkat.

I understand where you're coming from. We both have that similarity in the sense that we both share a rocky history with FA.

Like you, I take blame for some of mine too, and it's always a road that always goes both ways - FA admins have work to do themselves too, they aren't perfect.

Additionally, I've played with you a few times. You have a good attitude. I've never encountered any issue(s) with you while I was on. We both play on Jay1.

Just know that you are not alone.

Glad to see you on Jay1 regularly.

Cheers.

If I can give you some good advice, it's to play fun. Don't be too serious or it will deteriorate your mind. You can keep trying to play well enough to not die all of the time and have a good amount of kills, but don't be too harsh on yourself. I should know, I was like that too at some point. I was desperately seeking high rates on trackbase, which I did but never gotten to 1st place, and you know what, it's perfectly fine. So just enjoy the game, laugh a little, start building a good reputation, and ignore trolls. Eventually, you'll feel better, I promise.

I have never figured TB out. Sometimes, I play like crap and get pluses and sometimes I play great and get minuses. I mean, look at these.

We already talked about this on a different post you made in the past. I believe that we mentionned that there are some hidden parameters to take into consideration as well apart from K/D ratio (the efficiency, the XP you earned on the map and even your accuracy).

Here are some advice : learn from mistakes. I still do a lot of them myself as a decent player, but I always try to comprehend why I died, in order to not commit the same mistake after I respawn. There is also an older topic I made a few years ago. It's called "Aiming with any gun". You can check that out if you want.

Finally, I recommend you also watching Harry AimPotter's videos, that's how I learned the basics of movements, accuracy and how to edit my CFG. His YT channel is "sw0mpy". You can ask him some questions on how he plays, what config he use etc...

I hope it helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

Reaction times maters a lot, but for playing for fun it does not. it pretty hopeless to play against young ones, just need to adapt own play so reaction times maters less and maybe make game more fun to play not just constant loss of lives. About that ignoring I fully understand that, I had been ignored last years while before I tryed to greet people when joining server, well I stopped getting any response so I stopped greeting and just do things as member and play team play and try to enjoy games.  Age give also bit different view of things and importance.

Oh, I know we had this come up, and some of it made logical sense, but at the end of the day, having a bad map, low scores, etc., shouldn't have a positive rating. I just cannot get my mind around it. lol

I typically find someone when I join the server who plays a great game and spec them for awhile and that tends to put me in a zone, where I'm just in the game... until it wears off lol

Yeah, I say Hello every time I join, Great Shot when I feel someone got me good, etc. I say thank you all the time when someone heals, throws ammo or snags someone who's coming up behind me

Alright, so I got a little YT channel that I never talk about.

I wanna be consistent with it, but man, I got too much going on.

Anyway, you wanna know what I'm about?

This is what I'm about.
