ET NQ #1 Soldier class

Just wanted to hear everyone opinion on the soldier class (Atleast in NQ1) (Flamethrower).

What do u guys think about the flamethrower? Seems very overpowered for some maps such as Supply depot(Pro) on stage 5 where allies have to fix the gold crate system upstairs. Unless you have good team synergy it's pretty much impossible to win a game of supply on the allied side if theres someone with a flamethrower spamming it on the upper side. Also pretty strong on maps like caen. Where axis has to steal the maps at the end to seal the game. I'm not suggesting on removing the flamethrower i just want to hear genuine thoughts.

Soldier can be used as offensive or defensive type of playing. It depends on player preferences and type of map.

Sometimes flame can be useful and sometimes it's like pain in the ass.

If you have a problem with flamer inside room, you can kill him easily with panzer....or

Yeah I hear you, it sometimes can be a bit annoying. I have learnt to avoid it when one runs into a tight space, or aim properly to kill quickly.

To be honest, i am just living with it, no need to change that in my opinion.

Things like flamethrower are also difficult to balance, they can lose their strength quickly or be way too strong, but then again as sunset well pointed out it all depends on map, playstyle and location.

On some maps like special delivery there will always be at least 2 people with flamethrower, even if the player count is only sth like 3....

Imo its a veeeery annoying weapon. Even if I get flamed by my teammate and I get blinded by it, and the flame doesnt even touch the enemy.

For me its like a weapon that doesnt require for a lot of people to use skills. You just push mouse 1 into the enemys general direction

And that's why ET is so good. You don't need to be pro aimer to find something that is enjoyable for you.

Pro tip:
On NQ1 on Supply, it's best to be an engineer with a shotgun. You have adrenaline and in tight corridors the shotgun is deadly, and on Supply you just need to build controls once and that's it.
Especially that you can use double jump to get behind.

You have to play around the weaknesses of the flamethrower. The flamethrower is only usable in certain situations (usually small rooms with only one or two narrow entrances which makes flanking difficult and limits maneuverability of those pushing into the room). This limits the amount of positions flamethrower players can be in - they can only be so far away from an entrance, otherwise people pushing through the entrance are out of reach. Use this to your advantage, best with rifle nades. Either you outright kill the flamethrower player or you at least force him out of position, allowing you and your teammates to push in.

The flamer is annoying but also has its uses. I think peoples reaction to it calls for a history comparison and some nice pictures.

and a fitting description from google.

First used by the German shock troops, the weapon proved to be an effective tool against fortifications and trenches, showering the enemy with burning liquid and flushing out troops who would be otherwise unassailable. The flamethrower was as much a psychological weapon as it was a physical one.!!!
