I had installed ET on a laptop via the FA ET Installer to make sure that it can and does install an etkey file on request. I made a shortcut to ET.exe on the desktop and clicked on the "run as administrator" in the shortcut's properties. BUT, when I was testing my network problem recently, I ran ET.exe directly from the installation folder and had the same problem as Jsick7x did! I had forgotten to either run ET via the shortcut OR run the ET.exe by right-clicking and checking the "run as admin" that way!
