I'm moving to running Linux full time.

So ET 2.60 was a fail on my Manjaro. The game would send my GPU into total chaos, so I installed Legacy in /var/lib/flatpak/ and it loads and plays fine. Sound even works!

I've never played Legacy before.

My question is, where do maps get stored, so I can copy all my maps, Where do CFG's get stored (I don't think there's an ETmain folder) and how or can I copy my ETkey over from 2.60?

Thanks

Your Documents/ETLegacy I think

Not in the install folder like the older versions.

Put the etkey and your CFG into the etmain folder, it will works good. ( maybe need to /exec you cfg )
same for maps

Got everything copied over and it started. Exec'g my CFG sent my monitor into madness though. I had to go into my nvidia settings and reconfigure it so it would stay on. I'm guessing it's custom resolution, but I'd think that shouldn't be a problem?? Does Legacy need some different settings than ET 2.60b in a custom CFG?

I got it all up and running. Changing my custom res to 1024x768 kept it form crashing my Monitor but the etkey didn't take. That must go in another folder and also, when I exited the game, THAT crashed my monitor. Thankfully I run 2 so I could use the other to go into Nvidia settings and reconfigure it...again.

Maybe ET on Manjaro is just not going to work out for me :(

Thanks, I'd never leave Manjaro until I do a full line by line build of Arch. I've run so many Distros in the past including Mint and many others. Manjaro is just too good

With a standard ET Legacy install there is a hidden folder (because of the leading period) named .etlegacy in your home directory. In there you will find folders for maps, mods, cfgs, demos, and your etkey file.

Your etkey goes here: ~/.etlegacy/etmain/etkey

All good! Now I have to figure how to make the graphics less "milky" and higher resolution. ETL is a different animal.

And thanks! One less reason to go back to Windows for any reason

A tutorial for Kubuntu / Ubuntu (Maybe also Debian ) Linux platform install.

I made a fresh Kubuntu 23.10 install. Tried to run ET Legacy on it and experienced some problems  about missing packages. Managed to install and run.

Here is what to do to run ET Legacy:

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libasound2-plugins
sudo apt install libdrm2:i386
sudo apt install libexpat1:i386
sudo apt install libglu1-mesa:i386
sudo apt install libgl1:i386
sudo apt install libsdl2-2.0-0:i386

Load these packages and accept all dependencies and  suggested packages.

Go to https://www.etlegacy.com/download page. Most of the servers including FA servers are running with 32 bit version. To connect these servers select also install 32 bit installer.

Download installer.

Find the file downloaded and right click on it.

Right click at home and create "Enemy Territory" folder. (or where you want to install program) Copy installation file to this directory.

On permissions tab click on check box "is executable"

Then in the folder where you want to make install click F4. Below Konsole screen will open.

Here execute this command

$ ./etlegacy-v2.81.1-i386.sh

You will see licence agreement doc. Use page down to go till the end. Then on dialog box you have to accept licence agreement with y

(note if you stuck in licence document press q and enter)

Here below you see dialogs you have to accept by clicking y

Do you accept the license? [yN]:
y
By default the etlegacy will be installed in:
 "/home/attila/Enemy_Territory/etlegacy-v2.81.1-i386"
Do you want to include the subdirectory etlegacy-v2.81.1-i386?
Saying no will install in: "/home/attila/Enemy_Territory" [Yn]:
y

Do you want to fetch the assets data files? [yN]:

Here download will start. After download finishes

Do you want to delete downloaded Wolf:ET assets data files? [yN]:

dialog will come and you can choose y here and install will finish here.

Then go into  etlegacy-v2.81.1-i386 folder

There you have your executable file

Double click on it to play ET Legacy for Linux.

Note Linux is case sensitive. Write commands how you see them.

Hope this will help.
