ronaldounit0 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 So I recently built my first pc (see this topic http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/61048-scuderia-corsair/), but after I was done-----I wasn't. I told myself that I wanted to do more, and I did! So, knowing that I would have to swap out a few (albeit expensive for me) components and add new ones, I undertook the mission I had set for myself! This was my build beforehand: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3tFPgs and this is my build as it is now: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PjrfnQ I can't say too much about it because the minute I finished the build and fired it up for the first time, a storm rolled in and I had to call it quits..... I will benchmark on either 3dMark as soon as I can (Now don't think any less of me, because what I'm about to say is 100% necessary) Now witness my fully operational battlestation and see the true power of The Dark SLI'd!!!! There, got it out of my system. Check out my pics below if you want! (sorry for the horrendous quality, they were taken on a phone) 3 Quote
ronaldounit0 Posted July 24, 2014 Author Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) cool, can you keep it cool also? Right now, that may or may not be a slight issue I'm probably going to get one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835119065 Side note: Benchmarks to come tonight (hopefully)! Looks awesome man. I wouldn't waste your time with one of those. Just install additional 120mm fans if your case doesn't have all of the spots filled. That CPU is begging for a big heatsink and fan! This one is cheap and does a great job http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065&cm_re=coolermaster_cpu_cooler-_-35-103-065-_-Product I've installed one personally and its quality was great for the price. 1 Quote

Thanks so much, I appreciate it! The 120- or 140mm fans can only be mounted at the top and front of my case, and it's my top GPU that gets very hot (common problem for SLI). I'm afraid that a few more fans just won't do it, I think I need a blower that pulls air directly from the higher temp area. If I find a different solution (besides watercooling, that's a big NOPE from me), I'll certainly consider it. I would get the 212, but I just don't think I need it yet. My 4590 isn't overclockable, so the stock heatsink should do the job for now. I will keep that aftermarket cooler in mind though, thanks Quote

A_Snake Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 It never hurts to keep the processor cool. Of course I have this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186093&cm_re=artic_freezer_i11-_-35-186-093-_-Product and they all look about the same to me. Heat pipes for a heat sink with a radiator and fan. Personally I really like your build and think you'll be able to use it as is for a good while. Thanks for sharing. 1 Quote
Jacker Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 dafuq? wasn't that you causing discussions around the best and cheapest gaming pc in the world some days ago? now you invested like 3 times the money you wanted nevertheless: looks great - but i can't stop laughing because of this stock-wannabe-cool(er) on that CPU - and let me tell you one thing: if you are really going to add one of those slot-fans you posted above, i will kick ur ass and never talk to you again! 1 Quote

I agree, I think I'll wait till a good cooler goes on sale on Newegg then, thanks for sharing your personal experience! And thank you so much for the compliment, I'm very proud! dafuq? wasn't that you causing discussions around the best and cheapest gaming pc in the world some days ago? now you invested like 3 times the money you wanted nevertheless: looks great - but i can't stop laughing because of this stock-wannabe-cool(er) on that CPU - and let me tell you one thing: if you are really going to add one of those slot-fans you posted above, i will kick ur ass and never talk to you again! hahahahaha, it was in fact me I still have all of those $450 and $500 builds saved on my laptop! It was just so addicting (and still is) to be like "ooooooohhhhhh ,if I only spend like $30 more, I can get something so much better....." It's now a problem haha Yea, you guys have been swaying me to get an aftermarket cooler, and I think I will! I still have a problem though: one of the GTX760s gets to above 80c. It's technically not overly hot until 90c, but it kinda scares me. Will getting an aftermarket cooler for the cpu in any way effect the top GPU (probably not, but worth asking)? If not, I'm really at a loss at how to keep these cards cool Edited July 26, 2014 by ronaldounit0 Quote

ronaldounit0 Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 UPDATE: I sold this pc and helped pay for a new one, found here: http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/73854-the-angels-heart/?p=645241 Also, if anyone of you were wondering why my GPUs got so hot, it's because (and I really feel like an idiot about this, so don't judge) I accidentally had my exhaust fans mounted as intake Quote
