My take on it: There are again, like in the last year, cool and useful features packed with a new driver on the software package called "Radeon Adrenalin Software Edition 17.12.1". I like the most that AMD Chill has now whitelist instead on blacklist. Tested it and it worked with Mass Effect: Andromeda. Also I can call up AMD settings with ALT+R, also system monitor can be called in game with "ALT+Shift+O" key combination. Only downside is that it doesn´t have official software package for Win 8.1 but it installed for me also with Win7 package. Didn´t notice any perf gains in MEA though. News spotted first and more things covered on Toms Hardware : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-software-adrenalin-edition,5384.html

I'm having a problem that's pissing me off, and I can't really figure out what in the hell is going on. When I launch a select few applications (Visual Studio 2013 is an example), my mouse stops responding- simple as that. No amount of unplugging it, turning it off, or reinstalling the drivers works at all. Now here's the bit that annoys me the most. If I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to go to the Windows Security screen, the mouse works just fine. If I go back to the Desktop, it quits responding again. If I start the device manager through the run dialog (devmgmt.mmc), the mouse works just fine (but only within the MMC window). There are no device errors ever reported. Now in order to go the mouse to work again, I have to log out and log back in. Once I log out... the mouse works just fine, yet again. I can't find anything relevant on Google, and I'm just plain ol' stumped as to what to try to fix this. The mouse is a Logitech G700s, plugged into a USB 2.0 port. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Revision 5.0. The operating system I'm running on this PC is Win 7 Professional x64.

Hey there, In the past, I've used various linux distributions such as BackTrack/Kali, BlackArch, ArchAssult, Fedora Security, etc. to run penetration tests and other shady things without an issue. But in particular I've been using the aircrack suite for probably close to 4-5 years now and I have yet to run into this problem. So here's the skinny: I got a ThinkPad obsession back in January, and just not too long ago, a Lenovo TP T60 (Type 2007) was gifted to me, and because the number of jobs that I have had lately requiring forensics tools, pen testing, etc, I was needing a dedicated mobile machine for such purposes. So it came to me with Windows XP and the recovery (Lenovo R+R) partition was all in Chinese... so I formatted that garbage off, and I got into booting various live environments to see what worked best for me. Kali Linux: Nogo. Too commercial/branding in your face. Wireless did not work (could only monitor) OOTB. Fedora 21: Nogo. Goddamit anaconda, can't you work for a change? Crunchbang almost worked for me... As did Blackarch. And so I tried out Manjaro with LXDE. Now on Kali, blackarch and crunchbang, the aircrack suite worked perfectly. But the reason why I mention these different distros is for a reason. Kali's (Debian) wireless interface came up as wlan0. Crunchbang (arch): wlan0. Blackarch (...):wls3. Manjaro: (arch): wls3. So I'm guessing that is because of the integration of systemd, or driver differences (ipl3945 firmware loaded vs not loaded). So what I did was I added the blackarch repository to Manjaro after using my google-fu, and discovering that other people have done so (I still wish I came up with the idea first). After some newbie fiddling around with pacman, I got some tools installed from the blackarch repo, and I proceeded to run them: airmon-ng start wls3 -> works just fine. Sometimes if I've stopped it during the same user session, I have to run it twice to get it to generate a mon1, as mon0 gives me error to start airmon. The next command, airodump-ng mon1 generates-> "ioctl(SIOCSIFFLAGS) failed: Name not unique on network". And this is where I reside stuck at the moment. I did some googling and edited my hosts file based on something that worked for two people: # # /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names # #<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname> 127.0.0.1 paradigm ::1 localhost.localdomain localhost # End of file Where paradigm (the name of my computer) replaces the localhost.localdomain entry- thus pointing the loopback at the correct "network". I'm thinking I'm missing something here though... hosts files have never been my cup of tea. Any and all help is appreciated! Related to these two topics: http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/58951-looking-for-new-cfg-after-driver-update/?do=findComment&comment=514197 and http://fearless-assassins.com/topic/58339-for-players-with-amd-graphics-cards/ So between then and now, I re-installed Windows 8.1 Pro, having reverted back to 7 after a hard drive issue. Per JoeDirt's suggestion in the second topic, I installed the latest AMD Beta drivers (as I was using the crappy Microsoft display drivers), and made sure /r_primitives was set to "2". Unfortunately, I still had some lag. So I brought out my google-fu, and learned that if I copied the atioglxx.dll from Catalyst 13.4 to the game folder it should rid me of my lag issue. So I put a copy of that dll file into the game root directory, and in every mod folder and gave ET another shot. This time it worked perfectly, the way it used to with my old 13.4 drivers on Windows 7. Since then, maybe a day or two later, ET is giving me an inconsistent 20fps-125fps. Thinking it was my etconfig file, I posted a request for a new config file (the first link), and Th3o and First were nice enough to hook me up with both High and Low graphics settings configs. Unfortunately, both give me the same issues, with no noticeable difference in a FPS jump with the low graphics config. So that there confirmed that the drivers were the source of the problem (at least in my opinion), so I uninstalled the beta drivers and went back to 13.4, and although it is better, it's still looks like one of those stopmotion animation videos. I'm going to try the AMD cleaning utility and then giving the 14.xx Beta Drivers another test, but other then that, I'm really unsure as to where to go next. Perhaps I can inject a DLL from an older version of OpenGL, run ET in Hyper-V, or worst case scenario (as I really am broke right now), buy a new video card. My current graphics card is a Sapphire HD6570 with 2GB of vram. Not sure if anybody has any experience with this (now low-end) card? Thanks, Xerni

Heya ET players, I just wanted to alert you to an update for the AMD Catalyst driver that you should not install. As some of you know, with the technology for GPUs rapidly changing, support for our beloved aging games is starting to fade... in terms of our FPS rate. I got a rude awakening to that, after I updated the drivers for my AMD Radeon HD6570, hoping that it would fix a problem in another game (it didn't). From what I can gather (based on my own experience, and the AMD forums), AMD Catalyst version 13.9 is the last to support W:ET in all of it's glory. I updated from 13.4 to 13.12 and I could barely get about 20fps. Setting the r_primatives variable helped, but only boosted it to around 50fps. For the record, I'm used to 90-125fps (125fps being the maximum set in the cvar). I tried changing all of the MSAA settings, 3D settings, overclocking settings (who the hell would even need to overclock for ET? lol), etc. Nothing really helped. There might be something I'm missing out here (please say so, if I am missing something huge), but for now watch those driver updates.
